Germany will start returning Benin bronzes to Nigeria in 2022, the country’s foreign and culture ministries said on Friday. Britain’s soldiers seized thousands of metal castings and sculptures in 1897 during a raid on the Kingdom of Benin, then separate from British-ruled Nigeria. The “bronzes” —- actually copper alloy relief sculptures, many showing court figures —- were auctioned off and then spread among institutions from New Zealand to Germany and the U.S. The biggest collection was in London. “In addition to maximum transparency, we primarily aim for substantial restitution,” German Culture Minister Monika Gruetters ...

Bayern Munich Youngster Jamal Musiala Has Chosen To Represent Germany Ahead Of England

The Stuttgart-born midfielder, born in February 2003, became the youngest English player to score in the Champions League on Tuesday night as the Bundesliga side knocked four past Lazio in the round of 16 tie. It was a pretty decent finish, as well. Musiala's efforts will come as no surprise to Bayern fans who have watched him flourish in recent months. What Chelsea Have Done to Me – Timo Werner

Chelsea forward, Timo Werner, has admitted that he has been humbled by the difficulties he has had to face at the club since joining last summer. The Germany international knows he has fallen short of expectations in his first few months with the Blues. “At the beginning, I had this self-image that I can go on doing my thing here, but in the last few months I have been brought down to earth. It’s the way in England that you never have a quiet game,” ...
