Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been sworn-in as the Governor of Edo State.
He succeeds his political godfather, Adams Oshiomhole.
Obaseki was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Cromwell Idahosa, after taking the oath of office at about 12:20pm.
The Deputy Governor, Philip Shuaibu, took his oath of office earlier at about 12pm.
The event was witnessed by a mammoth crowd.
Obaseki defeated Pastor Ize Iyamu of the People’s Democratic Party. The Governor, who is from Benin and attended the University of Ibadan, also attended the Colombia University in the United States.
He started with Capital brokers in 1983. After traversing the financial market sector as chief executive in various categories, he joined the government of Oshiomhole.
