Insecurity: Niger Gov decries killing of worshippers in Mashegu

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has condemned the attack and subsequent killing of worshippers at a Mosque in Ba’ari community, Mashegu Local Government Area of the state. The Governor condemned the incident in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs Mary Noel-Berje, in Minna, the state capital. He decried how some groups of individuals have no regard for places of worship as they now attack and kill their unsuspecting victims while praying. One week after the inauguration of the Niger Special Vigilante Corps (NSVC), the personnel and the Police have recorded victories. 21 Passengers Abducted in Niger State Have Been Released

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has announced the release of the abducted 21 passengers of Niger State Mass Transit bus. He announced their release on Twitter on Sunday, February 21. The 21 passengers were abducted by the bandits, while traveling from Kontagora to Minna on 14 February. On 17 February, the RPG wielding bandits released video and photos of the captives, threatening to kill them. Governor Bello did not indicate whether a ransom was paid to get the captives released. Mallam Sheriff Othman Bin Adam, the Zone C Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, has died. The zonal chairman died in Kaduna after a brief illness. He is survived by two wives, children and aged parents. In his condolence message, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello expressed shock, over the death of Bin Adam. Governor Bello said he was saddened by Bin Adam's death, describing him as a young and energetic man with total commitment and dedication to serving humanity. The deceased hails from Sahon Rami, Mashegu local government area of Niger State.  He was APC Youth Leader from 2014-2018 and became APC state zonal chairman in 2018. He has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
