Paul Merson tells Arsenal striker to sign as Aubameyang’s replacement

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has urged the club to sign Everton striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, in the January transfer window after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s disciplinary breach. Aubameyang has gone six games for Arsenal without a goal. He was left out of the match-day squad as Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-0. Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, was forced to deny a rift had developed with his captain during his pre-match press conference on Friday. But regardless of their relationship, Merson believes the Gunners should make a ‘massive’ bid for Calvert-Lewin in January. “Arsenal need to go out and buy Calvert-Lewin and put in a massive bid for him,” Merson told Sky Sports. “They need a focal point up front who is good and strong. “It’s the Arsenal. Wher...

They always made me cry – Emmanuel Dennis Reveals why he stopped supporting Arsenal

Watford and Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis has explained why he had to give up supporting Arsenal. Dennis said that the Gunners drove him to tears. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals for Watford in the Premier League this season and was on the score sheet during Friday’s agonising 2-1 defeat at Brentford. The Nigeria International grew up supporting Arsenal and was a big fan of former Gunners midfielder, Cesc Fabregas. He told Sky Sports: “I used to be an Arsenal fan. I like Cesc Fabregas. “But I’m no more an Arsenal fan. I was so much into Arsenal sometimes I could cry when they lose. That wasn’t good for me. “So I was like, ‘nah, I’m going to stick to myself and don’t care much because it’s not good for my health’. It’s just me and myself right...

Arsenal brush off Aubameyang Absence to Beat Saints

Arsenal brushed off the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Southampton at Emirates Stadium. Before the game, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta revealed his captain had been dropped from the squad for a 'disciplinary breach', but after a poor start to the game it was Arsenal's stand-in captain on the day, Alexandre Lacazette, who gave the Gunners the lead in the 21st minute. The hosts doubled their advantage six minutes later when Martin Odegaard scored his third goal in as many Premier League matches before Gabriel Magalhaes, who was denied a goal by VAR moments earlier, capped a good afternoon on the field for Arsenal. Victory sees Arsenal put back-to-back defeats to Manchester United and Everton behind them to move up to fifth ahead of an i...

Arteta Reveals why he Snubbed Pepe for Nketiah against Everton

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has insisted Eddie Nketiah deserved to play ahead of Nicolas Pepe. Arteta stated this while answering questions from reporters following a 2-1 defeat at Everton on Monday night. Martin Odegaard had given the Gunners the lead before half time, but second-half goals from Richarlison and Demarai Gray secured maximum points for the hosts. Arteta opted to leave both captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and £72million signing Pepe out of his starting XI for the match, with Gabriel Martinelli and Alexandre Lacazette preferred. After Martinelli picked up an injury in the 71st minute, the Arsenal manager decided to bring on contract rebel Nketiah to play on the wing. The 22-year-old, who is expected to leave as a free agent next year, misse...

He’s certainly going – Campbell says Arsenal’s top striker will leave Emirates immediately

Former Arsenal striker, Kevin Campbell has said that he is convinced Alexandre Lacazette will leave the club. Lacazette’s current deal with the Gunners is due to expire next summer. The Frenchman is allowed to speak with foreign clubs from January 1 as he is in the last months of his contract. Due to Mikel Arteta’s preference for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his top 9, Lacazette has seen his playing time reduced this year. The Gunners want to bring in a new striker this January with the likes of Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lille’s Jonathan David all linked to the Emirates. And Campbell believes Lacazette has no future at the Emirates and will certainly leave the club and predicted that his exit may allow two to three new signings. “January is very close and Laca...

Arteta blasts Arsenal players after 2-1 defeat at Everton

Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta, has hit out his players for being “inconsistent”, following a 2-1 defeat to Everton on Monday. The Gunners went in front through Martin Odegaard. Richarlison, who saw two goals disallowed by VAR, drew the hosts level, before Demarai Gray fired in an unstoppable winner. Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports after the game, said: “In the first half, we were very inconsistent with the ball. I didn’t like it. No penetration. One of the few times we did it we scored. Second half we tried to do more of those things, created four big chances but conceded a very sloppy goal when you need to manage the game. “We couldn’t take the ball into the final third. They’re not going to give you time, at Goodison you know what to expect. I think the team tried to go, we ...

Why I allowed Ronaldo take penalty against Arsenal – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has given reasons he allowed Cristiano Ronaldo take the team’s winning penalty against Arsenal on Thursday night. According to Fernandes, it was the 36-year-old’s turn to take the spot kick. Ronaldo scored twice in the 3-2 win over the Gunners, with the second coming from the penalty spot. Fernandes, who made it 1-1 on the night, reveals they did not discuss the change in penalty takers ahead of time. The Portuguese midfielder says he was happy to leave the responsibility to Ronaldo, after missing his last effort in United’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on September 25. “We didn’t have a chat. I missed the last one so I trust him in the same way I trust myself. “It was time for Cristiano to take the penalty because I took the l...

However, the 36-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 17 appearances since returning to the club where he first made his name as a world star. His double against the Gunners took his tally across two spells at United to 130. EPL: Carrick opens up on speaking to Rangnick before Arsenal game

Stand-in Manchester United manager, Michael Carrick, has claimed he has not spoken with newly-appointed interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, ahead of Thursday’s Premier League game against Arsenal. Carrick will take charge of his third game against the Gunners, after Rangnick’s official arrival was delayed by work permit and COVID-19 regulations. United are however hopeful the 36-year-old will be in charge for Sunday’s game at home to Crystal Palace. Carrick, who denied claimed Rangnick had input into his team selection for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea, has again insisted he is yet to speak to the German. Asked if he had spoken to Rangnick, Carrick said: “No, because of the process and work permit, we haven’t been able to. “So we’ve carried on. It’s worked well the last two games an...
