Man faces murder charge after fatally shooting wife

A Garland man is facing a murder charge in the deadly shooting of his wife. Police said the shooting happened on Sunday, October 20, at about 5:34 p.m. in the 1700 block of Oates Drive in Mesquite, just east of Interstate Loop 635 and north of Interstate 30.   When officers responded to a shooting call at the property, they found a woman identified as 28-year-old Markeita McCleary, with multiple gunshot wounds.   McCleary was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.     Her husband, 28-year-old Ashton Neroes, was taken into custody. Hundreds of Villagers Flee After Boko Haram Raid in Borno State

Hundred of villagers fled their homes in Bale Shuwa in Jere LGA of Borno on Saturday November 11, after an attack by Boko Haram militants. The Militants reportedly arrived in trucks and opened fire, setting homes ablaze. One disabled person was allegedly killed while sixty five houses were burnt and more than 200 cows and 300 flock of sheep and goats were carted away. Gallant men of the Nigerian army have killed a notorious armed robber wearing full army kit. The armed robber in army uniform Early yesterday at about 3.30 am, troops on mobile patrol engaged a group of armed robbers in a shoot out along OTUKPO – APA-OTUKPA highway. During a search of the area at dawn one of the robbers kitted in military camouflage was found dead. A locally made revolver and 2 cartridges were also recovered. The Troops searched the bushes along the area for others who may have escaped with gunshot wounds. Meanwhile,the COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai has commended the troops and urged them not to relent in their efforts towards making Benue State free from all forms of criminality.
