SSS Arrests Usman Bugaje For Criticising Buhari’s Handling Of Insecurity

The State Security Service has held Usman Bugaje for criticising the Buhari administration’s handling of insecurity across the country. Mr Bugaje, a politician and scholar, was held by state agents after appearing on AIT, Peoples Gazette learnt. He has been at the secret police’s custody since 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, sources said. Mr Bugaje added his voice to growing concerns amongst Nigerians about insecurity. The politician had previously condemned Mr Buhari’s failure to tackle the economy, as well as his sectional appointments. It was not immediately clear whether the SSS would release Mr Bugaje today. The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Moddibbo Kawu was re-arraigned with three others on Monday before a Federal High Court in over alleged fraud in the handling of N2.5 billion, part of seed grant for Digital Switch-Over (DSO) project of the Federal Government. Modibo was re-arraigned with Pinnacle Communications Limited, its Chairman Lucky Omoluwa and the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Dipo Onifade on Monday on an amended charge filed by the prosecution. An army commander has faulted the way police handled the communal crisis in Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State. A number of persons died in clashes between natives and Fulanis. And the Acting General Officer Commanding the third division of the Nigerian Army, Brig Gen. Benjamin Ahanotu, says the crisis wouldn’t have escalated if police had not forcefully arrested the community leader before dawn.
