Members of the PDP dominated Imo State House of Assembly yesterday said they will work harmoniously with the newly sworn in Governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma in the interest of the state. Uzodinma was sworn in following the sacking of Emeka Ihedioha by the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Our correspondent reports that APC only has two out of the 27 members’ assembly However, political watchers are expecting some realignments with the new order. They based their arguments with what happened during the race for the speakership of the House when the Speaker, Chiji Collins, defected to the then ruling PDP to enable him grab the position, which was zoned to Okigwe. Our correspondent reports that the eight legislators who are of the Action Alliance (AA) may in no time join the APC...

He also ordered all the permanent secretaries of all the ministries in the state to forward to him the status of all the contracts awarded, while halting the payment for all ongoing contracts. ‘APC Will Win More Igbo States Before 2023’ – Ohanaeze Secretary-General

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo said on Wednesday that a greater number of states in Igboland would be won by the All Progressives Congress before the 2023 general election. The Secretary-General of the apex body of Ndigbo, Uche Okwukwu, made this remark in a congratulatory message to the new Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on his victory at the Supreme Court, describing the verdict as well considered. Okwukwu explained that with Uzodinma’s victory, Ndigbo were happy that the APC had enlarged its political space in Igboland. Ohanaeze’s message came barely 24 hours after the Supreme Court declared the Oru East-born politician the winner of the 2019 governorship election. Father Mbaka Did NOT Hear From God – Abimbola Adunni Adelakun

Now that the Supreme Court has nullified the election of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State and declared the All Progressives Congress’ Hope Uzodinma the winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the state, I owe it to readers of last week’s article to insist that God has nothing to do with the “prophets” that purportedly speak in his name. No God told Rev Fr Mbaka that Uzodinma would win at the court. More likely, this was what happened: To prepare the public for the electoral magic that would propel Uzodinma from his INEC-declared fourth position in the election to an eventual declaration of him as governor, Mbaka became a tool to “prophesy” it ahead of the day. The court judgment was not written on Tuesday morning; it must have been c...

How Supreme Court Ruling On Imo May Affect Ganduje – Buba Galadima

A former leader of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, Buba Galadima, yesterday described the Supreme Court verdict, which declared Hope Uzodinma Imo State governor-elect as the greatest wonder in world history. He said: “What has happened is that the Supreme Court has now tied itself because how can they do that to Emeke Ihedioha and refuse Abba Kabiru Yusuf in Kano? It was exactly what had happened in Kano. “If an election had to be cancelled, it has to be at the polling unit level according to the Supreme Court. But in Kano, the votes were not cancelled at the polling unit; they were not cancelled at the ward level but they were cancelled at the local level. So, it goes without saying that Ganduje is gone, and anythi...

Judgement of Supreme Court does not Reflect Voting during Elections — Ihedioha

The immediate past governor of Imo state, RT. Honourable Emeka Ihedioha has condemned the Tuesday judgement of the supreme court, led by the Chief justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammed, that declared Hope Uzodinma of the APC Governor-Elect of Imo state, saying it in contravention of the will of the people and does not reflect the voting that took place during the elections. In a statement obtained by Vanguard, Ihedioha stated that the Supreme Court verdict came as a rude shock and surprise considering the facts on the ground, and legal precedence. The statement reads in part: “I am reporting back to you our great Imo people on the fate of the mandate you freely gave to me as Governor and Engr. Gerald Irona as Deputy Governor. This mandate has now been truncated and cut shor...

I’ve Been Consistent About Uzodinma, Supreme Court Judgement Vindicated me – Father Mbaka

Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka has reacted to Supreme Court judgement which declared Hope Uzodinma as the new Governor of Imo State, days after he prophesied about it. The Enugu-based Catholic Priest said he got vindicated by the Supreme Court judgement as he has always been consistent about the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate. In a statement released by Mbaka's spokesperson Maximus Ugwuoke, the cleric stated that people should learn to fear God and respect His servant whenever he says “Thus says the Lord”. The statement read; “We are not all gifted alike; Fr Mbaka’s prophetic gift should be a source of pride for the Catholic Church and indeed all true Christians as a living evidence of divine presence within the church. “As a lawyer, I tell you that there are ...

INEC Reveals Why They Have not Issued Imo Governor-elect, Hope Uzodinma, his Certificate of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has explained why it is yet to issue the Imo state governor-elect, Hope Uzodinma, his certificate of return. On Monday January 14th, the Supreme Court in a unanimous judgement by 7 justices led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Tanko, annulled the election of Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state and declared Hope Uzodinma of the APC the winner of the March 9th state governorship election. The apex court ordered INEC to immediately withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Ihedioha and issue a fresh one to Uzodinma. However, 15-hours after the court judgement, the electoral commission is yet to effect the order. Speaking with journalist in Abuja this afternoon, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oy...
