The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has disclosed that 5,000 police officers are currently in joint operation with the military in the Northeast. Baba said this on Monday July 5 while receiving wives of defence and police officers’ association led by its president and wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs Victoria Irabor at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The IGP said; “Not less than 5, 000 policemen are fighting along with the military in the northeast. So, we’ve everything in common when it comes to supporting each other. Unidentified gunmen have razed another police station in Imo State, few hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu left Owerri, the Imo State capital. Vice President Osinbajo led a delegation of Federal Government officials including the Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, to visit the state over Monday, April 5, attack on the correctional center in the state as well as the police headquarters. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, has filed 20 grounds of appeal at the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement that voided the recruitment of 10,000 constables by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, last year. The IGP, the NPF and Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, through their lawyer, Dr. Alex Izinyon, SAN, urged the apex court to set-aside a judgment the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal delivered on September 30, which invalidated the recruitment process.
