Nigerian man Arrested in Malaysia for allegedly Duping 59-year-old Woman of Over N12m

A 41-year-old Nigerian student has been arrested in Selangor, Malaysia for allegedly duping a school headmistress out of almost N13 million. Nwaokorie Chikezi Patrick, a private college student is facing 24 charges of cheating the 59-year-old woman of more than RM140,000, using a non-existent inheritance said to be worth RM2.4mil. Nwaokorie pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Sessions judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Reza on Friday, April 16 in Kuara Kubu Baru, the district capital of Hulu Selangor District. He was accused of tricking the headmistress into transferring RM141,262 to a bank account held by Adzatul Natasyah Adnan, 27, in order to claim the inheritance, which he had claimed was from his father. Igboho: Oro Worshippers Impose 7-day Curfew; Women, Visitors To Remain Indoors

AFTER the forceful exit of Fulani herders from Igangan in Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state by youths in the town, a mandatory curfew has been imposed by Oro worshippers. Igangan Development Advocates (IDA), Mr Oladokun Oladiran, leader of the association, dismissed the claims that the festival was to ward off any reprisal attacks by the herders. EU May Impose Tough Visa Rules On Nigeria Over Illegal Migration

The European Union says it can impose restrictive visa implementation rules on Nigeria, if it fails to play its part in the return and readmission of its nationals staying illegally in the EU. The EU, which comprises Germany, Italy, Spain, France and 23 other countries, further stated that although it would not place a visa ban on Nigeria, it could make its visas more difficult for Nigerian applicants if Nigeria failed to meet its standards. CBN imposes additional charges on bank transactions

Effective Wednesday, September 18, cash deposits and withdrawals from individual bank accounts are to attract addition charges, the Central Bank of Nigeria said on Tuesday. In a circular to all deposit money bank (DMBs), the Director, Payments System Management Department at the CBN, Sam Okojere, said henceforth 3 percent processing fees would be paid for withdrawals and 2 percent for deposits of amounts above N500,000 for individual accounts. Similarly, corporate accounts will attract 5 percent processing fees for withdrawals and 3 percent processing fee for lodgments of amounts above N3 million. The CBN said the charges would be in addition to already existing charges on withdrawals, and will be aimed at encouraging it’s cashless policy.
