Former England striker, Peter Crouch, has advised Steven Gerrard to stay at Rangers amid reports linking him with a return to Liverpool to replace manager, Jurgen Klopp. Klopp is under intense pressure at Liverpool after the club lost 1-0 against Fulham at Anfield on Sunday. The result against Fulham was Liverpool’s sixth consecutive home defeat this season. The 20-year-old married nursery worker who had sex with a 13-year-old boy and had his baby is now facing jail after being found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child. Leah Cordice from Windsor, Berkshire, who started sleeping with the boy when she was 17 at that time falsely claimed that the teenager raped her but a jury at Reading Crown Court rejected her claims. Following the verdict, a judge told the court that if Cordice was a male 'custody would be almost inevitable'. Judge Peter Clarke QC then told the jury: 'I have got to consider a custodial sentence. 'To be sexist about this, if Leah was a young man of 17 years and the complainant was a 13-year-old girl, the sentence would be almost inevitable as far as custody is concerned. 'It is all very unfo...

2018: Ending in Disputes, Strikes

As 2018 draws to a close amidst the disagreement between the federal government and academic staff unions of universities and polytechnics in the country, among other issues, Funmi Ogundare writes that the country’s education sector still leaves much to be desired One of the major challenges that seem to be confronting the country’s education sector is inadequate funding, which has been identified as the major reason for the rot in the sector. The Ministry of Education received N541.2 billion for both capital and recurrent expenditure, up from the N496.9 billion proposed by the president. Kovac Future In Doubt As Bayern Poor Result Persist

Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac is already under pressure after four matches without a win and he is acutely aware that the German champions are not a club that deals well with failure. Kovac only took over at Bayern in the summer and was portrayed as a long-term leader after the venerable Jupp Heynckes had successfully steadied the ship for a season on a temporary basis after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked. The 46-year-old’s reputation had risen after he won the German Cup with Eintracht Frankfurt in May, beating Bayern in the final. But Bayern’s 3-0 home defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach has left his team sixth in the table — the last time the club went winless in four matches in the first half of the season was 2009. “Kovac in the eye of the storm,” Stern news weekly said on its ...

Rethinking The Nation Nigeria: The Hard Way, The ONLY Way!

A cursory look at most economically and politically developed nations reveals an almost common denominator – they were at some point driven by near-apocalyptic experiences to chart a beneficial course for themselves. Beleaguered by catastrophes ranging from economic turbulences, wars, resource-starvation, multiracialism, invasions, population explosions to natural disasters, these countries found creative ways to pull themselves out of the dust heap. No country started out great; the great ones marshaled themselves to high standing. It is obvious even to the casual observer that Nigeria is not living up to its existential potentials. Despite a teeming population and resource-laden land space, the so-called giant of Africa has taken only baby steps in its developmental trajectory. 104 an...
