Acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has said the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) created a vacuum in Nigeria’s Police effort at fighting insecurity. Speaking at the weekly Ministerial briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Alkali said the morale of the personnel of the force had remained dampened with aftermath of the #EndSARS protest and the recent attacks in the Southeast. ”It’ll turn Nigeria to a nation of junkies”- NDLEA boss Buba Marwa warns against legalizing Cannabis

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has warned that current moves by some stakeholders to push for the legalisation of cannabis in Nigeria will rob the country of the gains so far made in the renewed war against drug abuse and trafficking in the country. Recall that the spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, earlier this month announced the lower chamber of the National Assembly is set to legalize the use of Indian Hemp in Nigeria for economic benefit. Marwa objected to this when he spoke in Abuja today Wednesday, May 26, at a national security summit organized by the House of Representatives. He said the present figure of 10.6million Nigerians abusing cannabis is fri...
