Corps Members Run For Safety as Gunmen Invade Polling Unit in Rivers

National Youth Service Corps members working as ad hoc staff for INEC has escaped death after gunmen reportedly invaded a polling unit in Rivers State. The incident reportedly occurred in Bonny local government, Rivers State and the gunmen were reported to be over 20. They invaded the unit with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, carting away ballot boxes, looting and robbing electoral officers. An angry mob has on Monday lynched and burnt to death a suspected armed robber who was among a gang of seven that invaded Uche street in Eziama, Aba north local government area of Aba. Multiple People Die As Gunmen Open Fire On Villagers In Zamfara State

No fewer than 11 people have died after gunmen opened fire on residents of Badarawa town in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. According to reports, unknown gunmen invaded the community at about 9:30am today and attacked residents. At least 11 people were killed while about 23 villagers were injured. Some of the victims have been taken to hospitals in the local government and in Gusau, the capital of the state. The massacre comes after Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari said more people have been killed in his state than in Benue, Taraba and Plateau States.

Police in Ondo State have arrested five of policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for allegedly invading the hostel of students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) during a night party. Information released by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph, listed those arrested as an inspector and four others.
