Court bars Tinubu’s daughter and others from levying Computer Village traders

Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of All Progressives Congress leader Bola Tinubu and 5 others have been barred by a Lagos state high court from imposing levies on traders at the Computer Village, Lagos. This is coming a year after the traders embarked on a protest after Folasade who is also the Iyaloja-General of Lagos State, reportedly imposed leaders on them who introduced new levies. Punch reported that the order which is sequel to a fundamental human rights suit marked ID/9039MFHR/19, also barred Mrs. Bisola Azeez, Mr. Adeniyi Olasoji, Nofiu Akinsanya, Tony Ikani and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State from imposing such levies. Lagos Markets Shut To Honour Jakande

The Iyaloja-General, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has ordered all markets in Lagos closed to honour the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande. Chief Tinubu-Ojo told The Nation that the first civilian governor of Lagos state deserved more than that for his giant strides. She said it was a mark of respect and solidarity in honour of the deceased. “We are shutting down all markets tomorrow (today) to mourn our father. We all know he was the former governor of Lagos, who dedicated his time to develop the state, and dedicating a day in his honour is a good thing,” she said. Computer Village Traders Tackle Folashade Tinubu-Ojo Over “Illegal” Levies

A coalition of 18 trade unions at the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, has protested against the alleged imposition of illegal levies on traders by the Iyaloja General, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo. We gathered that traders at the ICT hub started the protest last Monday and shut the market pending the resolution of the issues. Our correspondent was told that Tinubu-Ojo allegedly imposed a Iyaloja and a Babaloja on the traders in June 2019. The new market leaders, who displaced the existing leadership arrangement, allegedly introduced new levies.
