Ganduje, Others Reconcile Dangote, BUA Over Sugar Plant

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has waded into the dispute between Dangote and BUA companies owned by two business moguls from the state. This is in order to resolve the lingering conflict among the two Kano State prominent indigenes Aliko Dangote and Abdussamad Isyaka-Rabi’u over the establishment of a Sugar plant by BUA. A statement by Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor on Thursday in Kano, said the reconciliation meeting took place on Wednesday in Abuja. Kano Emirate: Sanusi Loses As Court Rules In Favour Of Ganduje, PCACC

Federal High Court on Monday, in Kano State, dismissed a case filed by the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, seeking to stop investigation over alleged racketeering of landed property of the Kano Emirate Council. Sanusi, in an ex parte motion, sought the court to stop the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) from investigating him. The suit also sought an order restraining the PCACC Chairman, Mr. Muhyi Rimingado, Attorney-General of Kano State and Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje from investigating him. Court Affirms Ganduje’s Power To Dethrone Emirs

Justice A. T. Badamasi of a Kano High Court on Tuesday declined to grant an extension on the Interim Order stopping Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from interfering with the powers of the Kano emirate kingmakers. Counsel to the kingmakers in suit No K/197/2019 prayed the court to extend the order pending the determination of the substantive suit. The import of today’s ruling would be that the governor is now effectively capable of exercising all the powers vested in him under the new ‘Kano State Emirates Council Law, 2019. This includes the power to dethrone any Emir found violating any of the provisions of the law.

BBC Apologizes To Emir Sanusi Over False Publication Of Financial Recklessness

The British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, has apologised to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, over reports it published claiming the Emir was connected with a financial recklessness that took place with the Kano Emirate fund. Recall that on April 24, the corporation had published a report claiming that the Emir was under probe by the Emirate’s anti-graft commission for alleged mismanagement of Kano Emirate fund. Emir Sanusi’s Kano Emirate Admits Spending N3.4 Billion

The Kano State Emirate Council on Monday debunked claims that the emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has spent N6 billion of the emirate’s fund since he assumed office. At a press conference in Kano, the senior council official in charge of finance who is also the Walin Kano, Bashir Wali, told reporters that the emirate has only spent N3.4 billion since Mr. Sanusi emerged emir in June 2014. Mr. Wali, who provided some details of the expenditure, also explained that the Emir Sanusi inherited N2.9 billion (exactly N2.895,165,43.77) and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports.
