The unseeded Krejcikova does have the experience of winning doubles Grand Slam titles in her corner, and Pavlyuchenkova that of her junior Grand Slam titles and triumphs. A first senior singles Grand Slam title would mean so much to both women. From round one, they have quietly gone about their business; both have knocked out hi...

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League final on Saturday night in Porto, thanks to Kai Havertz’s first-half goal. The Stamford Bridge club would not have made it to the Champions League final without Lampard having first guided them out of the group stage. Recall that Lampard was sacked in January and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel. Speaking after the match, Silva, who limped out of the final in the first half, hailed Lampard, who signed him from PSG last summer. “Without Lampard, I would not be here,” the Brazilian defender told RMC Sport. “I am very happy, and I hope he will b...

Solskjaer Gives Reason for Man United’s 3-1 Loss Against Leicester City

Solskjaer said Man United players didn’t have the spark against Leicester at the King Power Stadium. According to him, the Red Devils tried against the Foxes but couldn’t get the right adrenaline boost against the host. Kelechi Iheanacho’s brace and a strike from Youri Tielemans ensured Brendan Rodgers’s men knocked out Man United from the FA Cup. “We did not have the spark tonight, but it is understandable. This team has been fantastic in the last three or four months,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport. “Thursday night in Milan was a big night and took a lot of out of us physically. We did not have the extra zip, authority and confidence today. “We tried to get on the front foot and start well. Sometimes you can get that adrenaline boost and confidence if you get a go...

Griezmann Subtly Blames Messi for Barcelona’s Defeat to PSG

Barcelona forward, Antoine Griezmann has partly blamed teammate Lionel Messi for the team’s exit from the Champions League on Wednesday night. While the first leg ended 4-1 in favour of Paris Saint-Germain in Camp Nou, the reverse fixture ended one goal apiece between the two sides. Barcelona could not make it beyond the last 16 of the competition joining another top side, Juventus who were knocked out by FC Porto earlier on Tuesday. Messi missed from the spot in the 45th minute of the game, a goal that would have turned things around for the visitors. And Griezmann believes that Messi’s missed spot kick and a couple of other wasted opportunities did not help the team’s course of upturning the result. The Frenchman told the press, “It’s a real shame, I’d say th...

Asked if bringing in Ronaldo to Turin was the wrong choice for Juventus, Gigli told Radio Punto Nuovo: “Absolutely, yes! I said that on his very first day at Juventus. He is a great champion but is too expensive. “Now it’s up to Juventus. They have been paying him 1m euros per goal. [Juve president Andrea] Agnelli must be self-critica...
