Court Orders Gov. Bello Of Kogi State To Pay Civil Servant’s Four Years Salary

The National Industrial Court, Abuja, on Friday ordered the Kogi State Government to pay a civil servant, Ameh Onoj, whose salary was stopped in March 2014. Onoja had approached the court to seek redress when he was told that his salary was stopped because he had attained the compulsory retirement age. Justice David Isele in his judgment, held that evidence before the court showed that the claimant had not reached the mandatory retirement age of 60. Isele also said neither has the claimant spent 35 years in service as required by civil service rule before retirement. The court went further to order the restoration of the claimant’s monthly salary of N153,298 from March, 2014 till date within one month.

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has denied sponsoring the mobilization of Senator Dino Melaye’s constituents to recall him from the National Assembly He said this in reaction to the claims that he allegedly earmarked N1billion to facilitate the recall of the lawmaker who represents Kogi West Senatorial District at the red chamber. Bello, in a statement by his Special Assistant on New Media, Gbenga Olorunponmi, said the Senator had nothing to fear about the state government. According to the statement, the governor advised Melaye to focus on serving his constituents whom he described as “his masters” and to respect their wishes. Gov. Bello Has Released N1.4 Billion To 7 LGs For My Recall – Melaye

The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Otunba Dino Melaye, has raised the alarm that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has allegedly released N200 million for each of the seven Local Government Areas in Kogi West Senatorial District to facilitate his recall from the Senate. According to Melaye, about 30 members of the All Progressives Congress, who refused to collect the money and sign the recall form being distributed by the Kogi State Government, have allegedly been arrested by the police. 200 Staff Of Kogi State University Screened Out Of Service

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kogi State University (KSU) Anyigba, chapter, has said that about 200 of its members were screened out of service during the recently concluded staff verification exercise. The Chairman, ASUU-KSU, Dr. Daniel Aina, who made this known, recently, while addressing journalists, in Lokoja, said the ongoing strike could only be suspended when all issues relating to arrears of salaries, 2015 employment, contract and sabbatical staff were resolved.
