Primary School Pupil, 9 Others Dead In Lokoja Tanker Explosion (Viewers Discretion Advised)

A primary school pupil died on Wednesday alongside nine persons after a petrol tanker exploded at Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State capital. It was gathered that the tanker lost control and rammed into oncoming vehicles before going up in flames around 8am. Some of the victims are Kogi State Polytechnic students. We also learnt that emergency responders failed to attend to the fire for over one hour. The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Monday dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate in the last governorship election in the state, Natasha Akpoti, challenging the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello at the last poll. Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has sacked all political appointees in its cabinet and directed all of them to hand over government properties in their possession to the most senior officers in their various Ministries, Agencies and parastatals. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that it would amount to contravening the Electoral Act if it disqualified Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello from participating in the November 16 ballot due to alleged double registration.
