Keep Hope Alive, Experts Urge Parents Of Children With Sickle Cell Disorder

Experts in Sickle Cell Disorder,SCD, management have urged parents of children with the disorder to keep hope alive saying, "it is wrong to presume that a child with SCD cannot live up to 21 years. Speaking on care and management of SCD during a medical outreach Programme organised by Crimson Bow Sickle. Initiative, Dr. Babatunde Aderole urged parents parents to keep hope alive over children with sickle cell disorder. "They can live long like any other child. It all depends on quality of care given to the children," he said. Nine Local Govts Risk Being Submerged In Lagos – NSE

The Lagos State Government must intensify its flood management efforts so that communities in Epe, Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ojo, Kosofe, Lagos Island, Apapa, Ibeju-Lekki and Ikorodu Local Governments would not be submerged. The Victoria Island branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, gave the advice on Thursday at a conference and paper presentation on the solutions to flooding in Lagos State. It said that a recent research showed that Eti-Osa could be totally submerged in a few years’ time if there were no concrete management of flooding on Victoria Island. It therefore called on the state government to relocate residents in flood prone areas elsewhere before it happened. Lagos Unveils Roadmap To Fix Potholes, Tackle Flooding

The Lagos State Government yesterday unveiled its roadmap targeted at maintaining and rehabilitating roads across the state as well as comprehensive drainage maintenance and flood control programme between August and December 2017. Recently appointed Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Public Works and Drainages, Temidayo Erinle, who reeled out the roadmap at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said in the coming days, the state government, through the Public Works Corporation, would carry out rehabilitation works on 43 major link roads across the State, while other major highways and arterial roads found to be in bad state would be fixed. Details of final results of Saturday’s local government election in Lagos released by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) on Monday indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won four councillorship seats in the polls. A statement issued by the commission’s Director of Publicity, Mr Oladapo Olatunde, indicated that Accord Party also won three councillorship seats in the election. The increase by Lagos chapter of the institution, which may act as a test bed for professional scale of fees in the built environment sector has ruffled feathers in the housing industry.
