Suspected ritualists kill 16-year-old girl, chop off her body parts

Some suspected ritualists have killed a 16-year-old girl identified as Rihanat Yusuf. The incident occurred at  Amuyo area in Offa Local Government Area in Kwara state. It was gathered that Rihanat was running an errand for her parents at the time of the incident. She went missing after leaving the house to get groundnut cake (Kuli kuki) to have Garri for lunch. A missing person complaint was filed at Offa Divisional Police headquarters by her father, Yusuf Taofeeq, after a search in the community was unsucessful.   Her dismembered body, with her head and two hands missing, was reportedly discovered at an uncompleted building in the area.   Kwara police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi said two of the suspects have been arrested and they have confessed to the crime....

Gov Abdulrazaq meets Fashola over bad federal roads in Kwara

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, on Thursday, appealed to the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, to fix the bad state of federal government roads in the state. The Kwara State Police Command has rescued three persons abducted on Monday by kidnappers. They were abducted at Elefo farm in Tafatafa village, Asa Local Government Area of the state at about 3.30pm. Spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, who announced the development, in a statement in Ilorin on Thursday, said the concerted efforts invested in the search and rescue of the kidnapped victims yielded fruitful results. Bridge Collapses In Kwara After Heavy Rainfall, Four Feared Dead

A car carrying three passengers was on the bridge when it collapsed, according to an eyewitness. Four people have been reported dead after a bridge collapsed at Oko-erin, Ilorin, Kwara State. The bridge collapsed after a heavy downfall on Saturday night. The driver and passengers dived into the canal and died before they could be rescued. “The bridge collapsed around 10pm on Saturday night because of heavy downfall. The driver was on the bridge when it tore apart and they fell into the canal. “They died because they could not get help as people don’t have means of rescuing them, we had to standby and expect the emergency team to come.” The emergency response team is currently at the scene making efforts to retrieve the car and bodies.

The Kwara State Government has announced a total lock down of the entire sixteen local government areas until further notice. The Chairman, Technical Committee on COVID-19 and the Deputy Governor of the State, Kayode Alabi, announced this while addressing journalists in Ilorin. He said the order would take effect from six o clock in the evening (Thursday). Tragedy Hits Kwara Community As 6 Petrol Tankers Collides

At least, no fewer than eight persons on Wednesday died in multiple accidents involving six petrol tankers and a car at Oloru-Kanbi in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accident occurred when the tankers, heading to the NNPC depot at Oke-Oyi in Ilorin had a head-on collision with three others returning from the depot. Four Turkish Nationals Kidnapped In Kwara

Gunmen have kidnapped four Turkish nationals in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, police said on Sunday. Kwara police spokesman, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the foreigners, said to be construction workers, were kidnapped at a bar in Gbale village late Saturday. He named the victims as Seyit Keklik, 25; Yasin Colak, 33; Ergun Yurdakul, 35; and Senerapal, 40. Mr Okasanmi said the police commissioner, Kayode Egbetokun, had dispatched teams under Operation Puff Adder in the area to rescue the expatriates. The spokesman said the CP had also directed that the suspected kidnappers be arrested. He assured that rescue efforts were already yielding positive results.
