Lagos State Government To Upgrade Massey Children’s Hospital, 56 Roads On The Island

The Lagos State government said it would upgrade 56 roads and reconstruct drains, street lightings, Massey Children Hospital as part of the ongoing Action Area Plan to reconstruct/upgrade roads and other infrastructure in the state. Many Escape Death As Raging Fire Guts Warehouses, Shops At Lagos Market

According to a report by Daily Trust, a fire incident at 4 Market Street Tinubu Square on Lagos Island left many shops and warehouses burnt yesterday. It was learnt that the inferno broke out from a three-storey building in the area. Officers of the state fire service were immediately mobilized to the scene to quell the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining shops. The ever busy Market Square on the Island yesterday was chaotic as emergency officials including the state Emergency Management Agency made efforts to put out the fire. Building Collapse: Lagos To Demolish 180 Houses

The Lagos State Building Control Agency on Friday commenced the demolition of defective buildings on Lagos Island. About 180 houses will be demolished, according to the General Manager of LASBCA, Mr Lekan Shodeinde. Shodeinde, who was represented by the agency’s secretary, Mr Tayo Fakolujo, during the demolition exercise, said the buildings would be destroyed in phases. The governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has arrived the scene of the building collapse on Lagos Island where over 100 school pupils are reportedly trapped.
