The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned sixty (60) suspected cultists arrested at various points and communities in the state to the Chief Magistrate Court, Yaba on Wednesday before Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo under the new Lagos State Anti Cultism Law, 2021. The police prosecutors filed thirteen (13) count charge against the sixty suspects for various offences including Conspiracy, Murder, Cultism, Unlawful Possession of Firearms and Breach of Public Peace under the new Lagos State Anti Cultism Law, 2021 and Criminal Laws of the Lagos State, 2015. The new Lagos State Anti Cultism Law provides that, on conviction, cult members risk jail term of twenty one (21) years, while their parents risk 2 years imprisonment or fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (#500,000).

Lagos Police Arrest 3,921 Suspected Armed Robbers, Cultists, Others

At least 3,921 suspected armed robbers, cultists, murderers, hoodlums and COVID-19 violators have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos Police Command, Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu said on Monday. He said the suspects were arrested between mid-January and Monday, adding that 241 arms, 273 ammunition, 31 stolen vehicles, 187 motorcycles and 10 tricycles were recovered during the period. Odumosu gave the statistics while giving details of achievements recorded by the Command within the period under review. Lagos police arrests owner of Club Victoria, to arraign him in court

The police in Lagos state have arrested the owner of Club Victoria located in Victoria Island Lagos. Recall that over the weekend, the state police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, led a team of officers to raid the club and arrested the clubgoers. They were arrested for violating the COVID19 protocols. The state government in December announced a ban on all clubbing activities in the state as part of measures to contain the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic.
