A Manhattan jury has cleared Jay-Z in a lawsuit that claimed he breached an endorsement deal for a “Gold Jay-Z” cologne brand by failing to properly promote it, allowing the superstar to avoid $67 million in requested damages. At the end of a three-week trial over the soured product deal with Parlux Fragrances LLC, the jury heard arguments from Jay-Z's attorney that asked “why on earth” the star would have put his name on a product that he wanted to fail. Wednesday's verdict awarded nothing to Parlux but also declined to award any money to Jay-Z, who had sought roughly $6 million in royalties he said he was still owed under the deal. "You failed to prove your case, they failed to prove their case," Justice Andrew Borrok said to an attorney for Parlux after the verdict was read...

Boxer Adrien Broner was on Sunday October 10, arrested by cops in Kentucky over an outstanding warrant from Ohio. The 32-year-old was hauled into Kenton County Jail by police at around 1am and spent the night in a cell after officers obtained a warrant for his arrest as a fugitive from another state. Though it is unclear what led to his arrest, it is however said to originate from Cuyahoga County and speculated to be related to a lawsuit he lost in that jurisdiction about a year ago, when a woman claimed he assaulted her in a nightclub. That case has been ongoing for quite some time and Broner was even tossed into jail late last year after the judge found him to be in contempt for failing to pay an $800k judgment and comply with the rest of his requirements. Black widow’ actress Scarlett Johansson agrees to end lawsuit against Disney

Hollywood actress, Scarlett Johansson has ended her lawsuit against Disney. In July the actress filed a lawsuit against Disney (DIS), alleging the production company breached her contract by releasing "Black Widow," a Marvel film starring the actress, on streaming app, Disney+ on the same day it was released in theaters. The suit alleged that putting "Black Widow" on Disney+ reduced Johansson's financial stake in the film because she had agreed that her salary would be based, in large part, on the film's box office haul. Disney responded in July by saying that "there is no merit whatsoever to this filing." The studio added at the time that the company "fully complied with Ms. Johansson's contract and furthermore, the release of 'Black Widow' on Disney+ with Premier Access has si...

According to Daily Mail, royal insiders have claimed there may have been a 'lack of communication and cohesion' between Andrew's UK legal team and newly appointed US lawyer about how to move forwards. And there is apparently deep concern at the way the duke's well-paid advisers on both sides of the Atlantic have been 'outwitted and out-played' at every turn in recent days by David Boies, the attorney employed by his accuser Virginia Roberts, now Giuffre. Their attempts to avoid even having papers officially served have been both a legal and a public relations disaster, with Andrew appearing to play a game of 'cat and mouse' with Ms Giuffre's legal team as he...

Giuffre, who launched legal proceedings against him last month, accused Prince Andrew of battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress over alleged misconduct from about two decades ago. Ms. Giuffre, 38, was underage at the time of the alleged abuse, which she said occurred around the time the financier Jeffrey Epstein was sexually abusing her. Her legal team sought intervention from district judge Lewis Kaplan, with lawyers accusing the duke of dodging the papers, accusing him of playing a "game of hi...

On Friday, the USWNT appealed that decision, saying in their filing that the ruling "is legally wrong, and it defies reality." What was said? "If a woman has to work more than a man and be much more successful than him to earn about the same pay, that is decidedly not equal pay and it violates the law. And yet, that is exactly what the women players on the U.S. national team do," USWNT spokeswoman Molly Levinson ...

Chinese Court Rules that Homosexuality can now be Called a Mental Disorder

A court in China has upheld a lower court's ruling in favour of a textbook’s description of homosexuality as a mental disorder. The decision of the Suqian Intermediate People’s Court in the eastern province of Jiangsu was called "random and baseless" by Ou Jiayong, also known as Xixi, who had filed the lawsuit. In 2016, Xixi had discovered a psychology textbook that described being gay as a mental disorder during her studies at the South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. In 1990, the World Health Organisation declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder following which China followed suit and decriminalised homosexuality in 1997. Two years later, in 2001, China removed it from the official list of mental disorders. Despite this, a psychology...

Federal Appeals Court Dismisses Trump Campaign Lawsuit Over Pennsylvania Voting

Federal appeals court dismissed a lawsuit by the Trump campaign over Pennsylvania's voting procedures on Friday, paving the way for the issue to escalate all the way up to the Supreme Court. Despite Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani arguing to a lower court that widespread voter fraud occurred in a state where President-elect Joe Biden won by over 80,000 votes, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said “the campaign’s claims have no merit.” The Trump campaign has the option of asking the U.S. Supreme Court for emergency injunctive relief, which would go to Justice Samuel Alito, who would then likely ask his eight colleagues to weigh in. "The activist judicial machinery in Pennsylvania continues to cover up the allegations of massive fraud. We are very thankful to have had the oppo...

2Face Idibia Reacts After He Was Dragged To Court Together With 49 Nigerian Celebrities For Their Roles In The #EndSARS protest

Biden Inches Nearer To Victory As Trump Launches Lawsuit Blitz To Slow Him Down

Democrat Joe Biden inched nearer to victory on Thursday over Donald Trump in an exceedingly close U.S. election that hinged on razor-thin margins in a handful of states, while the Republican president launched a flurry of lawsuits hoping to slow down his opponent. Tensions rose in some places as the ballot counting dragged on two days after polls closed, with a second day of sometimes dueling street demonstrations over the integrity of the election. Biden, the former U.S. vice president, was continuing to cut into Trump’s leads in Pennsylvania and Georgia while holding on to slim margins in Nevada and Arizona. Trump, who during the long and rancorous campaign attacked the integrity of the U.S. voting system, has again alleged voting fraud without providing evidence, filed lawsui...

Judge rejects Department of Justice’s attempt to end rape defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump

A US Federal judge on Tuesday denied the Justice Department's bid to end a defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump brought by a longtime magazine columnist who alleged he raped her in a luxury department store dressing room over two decades ago.   The DOJ moved to put itself as defendant in the lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll (pictured top right), instead of Donald J. Trump, a move that if it became successful, would have halted the case,  as the US federal government can't be sued for defamation.   Carroll, made her allegations in a book saying Trump sexually assaulted her either in 1995 or 1996 but he has denied Carroll's allegations, telling reporters, "She's not my type," and alleging Carroll lied to boost her book sales. In a 61-page opinion release...
