A lawyer who was kidnapped by gunmen in Jos on Monday evening, July 5, has regained freedom. Gyang Zi was driving home after closing from work when the gunmen attacked him within the Little Rayfield Government House in Jos and kidnapped him, leaving his car behind. His car was later found on Tuesday morning, July 6, with the windows wound down on an untarred road beside the fence of the Government House. The bread he had bought was visible in the car seat. A resident who saw the car filmed it and expressed concern that the owner of the car might have been kidnapped since the car had been there since the previous night and a beeping sound was coming from the car. The senior lawyer eventually regained freedom on Tuesday evening allegedly after N10 million ransom was paid.

Nnamdi Kanu won’t get fair trial – Lawyer, Ejiofor

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday, has said his client may not get fair hearing in his trail, adding that he has been subjected to mental torture in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. Ejiofor said this while featuring on ‘Good Morning Show’ on ARISE TV. “There is an underlined fact that my client will not get a fair trial in that court, that is settled. The issue of fair trial has been taken away by this collaboration. “He’s being subjected to mental torture as I speak with you. Because when someone is in incarceration as a political prisoner, which he is, he has no access to his wife, Kanu has no access to his brothers,” he said.

The Ebonyi State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned a 52-year-old lawyer, for allegedly stealing the sum of N5 million, belonging to one Igwe Nwokpata, in the state. The first defendant, Barr Onu Onwe, it was gathered, had been a lawyer to the complainant for over 13 years. He was said to have sold his (the complainant’s) piece of land at the rate of N29 million but accounted for N24 million.
