Tottenham winger Gil replaces Llorente in Spain squad for Nations’ League finals following injury to Atletico star

Spurs' £22 million ($30m) summer signing will join up with Luis Enrique's group ahead of their last four meeting with Italy in midweek Tottenham winger Bryan Gil has replaced Marcos Llorente in Spain's squad for the UEFA Nations' League finals following an injury to the Atletico Madrid star. Luis Enrique confirmed his initial 23-man squad on Thursday, with Premier League stars David De Gea, Robert Sanchez, Cesar Azpilicueta, Sergio Reguilon, Marcos Alonso, Rodri and Ferran Torres all making the cut. Gil has now been added to that list after the withdrawal of Llorente, who picked up a thigh problem in Atletico's 2-0 Liga victory over Barcelona on Saturday.

The Blues ultimately fell short in their pursuit of Sevilla's France international, but did sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his side aimed to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde prior to the close of the summer transfer window. The Blues ultimately failed to prise the 22-year-old away from Sevilla, with the Liga side holding on to their highly-rated France international. Chelsea did manage one deadline-day addition from Spain, signing Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid on loan.

Tebas spoke out after Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos and Barcelona ace Lionel Messi left for Paris Saint-Germain on free transfers this summer. His suggestion that state-owned clubs like PSG were "as much enemies as the Super League" and that Ligue 1 was becoming a retirement home for veteran stars did not go down well with his counterparts in France.

The Liga giants are growing more confident they will be able to land the 22-year-old superstar Real Madrid have made a second bid for PSG star Kylian Mbappe and are optimistic their offer of €170 million (£146m/$200m) plus €10m (£9m/$12m) in add-ons will be enough to land the forward, Goal can confirm. The Blancos made an opening bid of  €160m (£137m/$188m) earlier this week, which was rejected by PSG. But after increasing their bid, the Spanish giants are growing increasingly confident they will be able to close a deal for the 22-year-old superstar.
