Liverpool to make Mohamed Salah their highest earner

Liverpool want to make Mohamed Salah to become their highest-paid player and will use the offer of a lucrative signing-on fee to sweeten the deal, SportsMail reports. Salah’s current contract at Anfield runs through to 2023. But Liverpool have made it a priority to get the Egyptian forward locked onto fresh terms like many of his team-mates. However, the Reds do not want to shatter their wage structure, but will instead consider using a signing-on fee. Salah already has 15 goals in all competitions this season, including last weekend’s stunning hat-trick against Manchester United. It is understood that suggestions Salah is holding out for £500,000 a week is not true, as he understands the financial parameters of owners Fenway Sports Group. Any new deal would however see...

EPL: I am embarrassed – Rashford breaks silence on 5-0 defeat to Liverpool

Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford, has issued a delayed apology to fans following their 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. The result has heaped more pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with his future at Old Trafford still uncertain. Quickfire goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota had put Jurgen Klopp’s men in control, before Mohamed Salah’s hat-trick sealed a memorable game. Rashford, writing on Twitter on Wednesday night, admitted he had struggled to find the words following the loss. “I can’t lie you haven’t heard from me on here because as a United fan I didn’t really know what to say after Sunday. “I was embarrassed. I am embarrassed. Our fans are everything and you didn’t deserve that. “We’re working hard to try and fix this. We have to redeem ourselves,” h...

Solskjaer not right manager to take Man Utd forward – Berbatov

Former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov, has insisted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not the right manager to take the club forward, judging on the Red Devils’ 5-0 defeat to Liverpool. Berbatov also said that Solskjaer is going to be in trouble if Man United don’t win their next match against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Recall that Liverpool thrashed Man United 5-0 last weekend at Old Trafford, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s hat-trick and two goals each from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota. “Judging on the Liverpool match, Solskjaer isn’t the right man to take the club forward,” he told Betfair. “For some fans, that’s the most important game of the season and we want to beat Liverpool maybe more than we want to beat City. “That being said, we have to look at the bigger p...

Chelsea are currently on top of the Premier League table with 22 points from nine games. Thomas Tuchel’s side are one point ahead of second-place Liverpool and two points ahead of third-place Manchester City. “Seeing Liverpool go to Old Trafford and win so convincingly, I think it will make City worry,” Scholes was quoted by Metro UK as saying. “Chelsea… I’m not sure, they have been great and I think they are better than I actually give them credit for, but I think [the Premier League title] it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City. “I think City watching that today, in the Champions League or the Prem...

Why Liverpool must move with speed to tie down ‘world-class’ winger – Carragher

The former Reds defender calls on the club to do everything in their means to tie down the Egyptian forward to a new deal Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool risk losing “world class’ Mohamed Salah if they don’t move with speed and tie him with a new contract. The 29-year-old Egypt international, who has less than two years left on his contract, continued with his fine form for the Reds after he set up a goal for Senegal forward Sadio Mane and scored in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. His goal against City was his sixth of the campaign in the Premier League and according to former Liverpool player Carragher, Salah is performing at a higher level than anyone else in Europe right now and Liverpool must tie him down to a new contract or risk losing him.

Manchester City has hit out at Liverpool, after he and his staff were spat on during Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Anfield. The result took City into third place, behind the Reds in second. Sadio Mane gave the hosts the lead, before Phil Foden slammed it for 1-1. Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has aimed a dig in the direction of Liverpool and Manchester United after being left unimpressed by the officials during his side’s Premier League 2-2 against Jurgen Klopp’s side on Sunday. Guardiola was obstinate Liverpool should have been reduced to ten men during Sunday’s clash at Anfield after James Milner, who was already on a yellow card, chopped down Bernardo Silva. Referee Paul Tierney awarded Man City a free-kick but didn’t pull out a second yellow card, while VAR didn’t intervene as it wasn’t deemed a ‘clear and obvious error’. But Guardiola reacted angrily on the sidelines and his mood got that bit worse just minutes later when Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-1 lead, after earlier goals from Sadio Mane and Phil Fo...

EPL: Carragher reveals Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Liverpool

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has backed Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield when the German eventually leaves the club in the future. Klopp replaced Rodgers at Liverpool in 2015, but the Northern Irishman’s reputation has soared after spells at Celtic and Leicester City. Rodgers nearly guided Liverpool to their first Premier League title since 1990, but a disappointing end to the 2013-14 campaign saw them pipped by Manchester City. But Carragher, who played under Rodgers for a year at Liverpool, believes the door could be open for a return when Klopp eventually leaves the club. “I am a huge fan of Brendan Rodgers and think he’s a brilliant manager, I really do,” Carragher told Sky Sports about Rodgers. “I have worked with him for 1...

Former Chelsea striker, Tony Cascarino, has named Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as the best player in the Premier League at the moment. Egyptian forward Salah has helped the Reds win the Champions League and Premier League in recent years. The Egypt international already has six in the Premier League and 7 in all competitions this campaign, with Liverpool currently one point behind Chelsea in top spot. And Cascarino, a former Blues forward, believes the Egyptian offers something very few players in the world can. “What he does is a one off, his abilities to get chances and keep running into positions, whether that’s out wide, cutting inside. Mo Salah is unbelievable. He’s never on the fringe of a game, he’s always getting chances,” he told talkSPORT. “Without a doubt, he’s not t...
