The Sea-Watch vessel rescued a total of 49 migrants and were refused permission to dock in Italy and Malta. The migrants had been in the middle of the Mediterranean for over 18 days, because European ports refuse their entry and did not allow Sea-Watch vessel to dock in any European port. After few days of hunger strike, the migrants on board started to eat again, but were upset with European countries that have blocked their attempts to dock on shore. Queen Elizabeth issued a request to the Commonwealth Heads of Government to name Charles as her successor. The Queen who turns 92 soon said; “It is my sincere wish that the Commonwealth will continue to offer stability and continuity for future generations and will decide that one day the Prince of Wales should carry on the important work started by my father in 1949,” the Queen said She added “By continuing to treasure and reinvigorate our associations and activities, I believe we will secure a safer, more prosperous and sustainable w...

Lauritzen Kosan Reflas Two Ships To Denmark

Danish shipping company, Lauritzen Kosan has reflagged two of its ships to Denmark for the first time since 2003. The registers of the two vessels, the Helena Kosan and the Linda Kosan, have been changed to the Danish International Register of Shipping (DIS) as they begin a period time charter which will require an EU flag. “The reflagging of these two gas carriers to Denmark is driven by commercial arguments, and it goes to show that the Danish flag is now very close to being as competitive as Malta, Singapore and the Isle of Man. There are still some challenges, but we very much appreciate the clear pro-business signals currently being sent by the Danish political system,” said Mads P. Zacho, CEO of J. Lauritzen. Zacho further commented: “We very much appreciate the efforts made by the...

‘Outrageous’ To Claim England Players Don’t Care – Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate has said that he finds the notion that his player don’t have passion to play for the country as “outrageous”.His side struggled to defeat Malta on Friday, scoring three times in the closing stages to secure a 4-0 success, and on Monday tackle Slovakia at Wembley in a fixture that will be pivotal for their hopes of World Cup qualification. On the eve of that clash, Southgate has defended a supposed lack of passion his players have for the team.“The notion the players aren’t proud to play is outrageous really. They’re unbelievably proud to play,” he said.“Yeah, they might not play as well as they’d like to sometimes, not converting all their chances, but there’s no one not giving their 100 percent.”Having played 57 times for his country between 1995 and 2004, ...

Rooney Confirms England Talks With Southgate

Wayne Rooney has remained coy over his England future but confirmed he will hold talks with boss Gareth Southgate this week ahead of the squad announcement on Thursday. The 31-year old striker, who is England’s all-time leading scorer with 53 goals, has not featured for his country since their 3-0 win over Scotland in World Cup qualifying last November. Southgate opted to leave Rooney out of his squad for the remainder of the campaign as the forward struggled for form at Manchester United, scoring just eight times in all competitions last season. However, following his move back to boyhood club Everton this summer, Rooney has returned to form – netting his 200th Premier League goal against Manchester City on Monday – in turn opening the door to a possible England place. “We’ll ...

Kane Saves England Draw After Scotland Rally With Late Free Kicks

Harry Kane scored a stoppage-time equaliser to rescue a 2-2 draw for England against Scotland in a wild finish to a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday. After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had opened the scoring for England in the 70th minute, Scotland’s Leigh Griffiths netted two excellent free kicks in the final three minutes to turn the game on its head, only for Kane to pop up late on to salvage a point for the visitors. Substitute Oxlade-Chamberlain cut inside from the right before bursting into the box and firing past Gordon for the breakthrough. But Scotland went looking for an equaliser, and Griffiths curled a strike inches wide before eventually finding the back of the net with his fine 87th-minute free kick to the left of a diving Joe Hart. And three minutes lat...

The 3-day event drew attention for many reasons. There were howeer three unassailable lessons that we deducted from the wedding. It was the first time in a wedding of that magnitude that bottled drinks were not served. Neither Coca cola nor Pe...

Knights Of Malta Dead Quits In Condom Row

The head of the Knights of Malta has resigned after entering into a public spat with Pope Francis over the ouster of a top official involved in a condom scandal, a spokeswoman for the ancient lay Catholic order says. Matthew Festing met with the pope on Tuesday and offered his resignation, Knights of Malta spokeswoman Marianna Balfour said. Festing had refused to cooperate with a papal commission investigating his ouster of the grand chancellor, Albrecht von Boeselager, over revelations that the order's charity branch had distributed condoms under his watch. Festing had cited the Knights' status as a sovereign entity in refusing to cooperate. Last week, the Holy See said in a sharply worded statement that it planned to take action to resolve the dispute, which had set the st...

Alexis Sanchez Admits to Tax Fraud Totalling £865,000

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez confessed to tax fraud in Spain of almost €1million. The Chilean owned up to defrauding the Spanish treasury of €983,000 (£865,000) between 2012 and 2013 when he was playing for Barcelona. In his statement to a Catalan court, via video link from London, Sanchez confessed to two counts of tax fraud. According to Europa Press, the Arsenal star is understood to have already returned the money he admitted to withholding. As a consequence of his repayment, he is not likely to have to face a trial with an agreement to be reached by both parties. This would involve the defence team of Sanchez negotiating with the prosecution an adequate fine to compensate for the delay in tax payments. The allegations initially came to light in November 2016 when it was propo...

The Sad News Of Trump’s Triumph, By Reuben Abati

“Democracy is tricky; it sometimes ends up as a parody of itself. When the people clamour for change, they can vote with their hearts, and prove impervious to plain sight reason, and overlook likely pitfalls. We can only hope that Donald Trump does not become the symbol of the change that Americans are seeking. That would be sad indeed for the free world.” – Reuben Abati, “Anything Can Happen in America”, The Guardian, March 6, 2016. Earlier this year, I had written a piece titled “Anything Can Happen In America”, from which the quote above is excerpted, but I had virtually no idea that the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election could be so shocking, unthinkable and unbelievable. I was like the pollsters, the cultural activists, the Nobel Laureates, the American media establishment a...
