Man Utd vs Aston Villa: Solskjaer reveals who to blame for Fernandes’ missed penalty

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has blamed Aston Villa players for Bruno Fernandes missing a late penalty in Saturday’s early kick-off. The Red Devils were losing 1-0 thanks to Kortney Hause’s header, when the spot kick was awarded. Referee Mike Dean pointed to the spot following Hause’s handball in the area. With Cristiano Ronaldo still on the pitch, Bruno Fernandes placed the ball and blasted it over, to ensure Villa left with maximum points. When asked about the incident after the game, Solskjaer said: “First of all, the way they (Aston Villa players) get round the penalty spot and Bruno, that is not to my liking. “Bruno is always good from those positions, but unfortunately he missed this one.”

Hause the hero after Bruno penalty howler

Bruno Fernandes missed a stoppage-time penalty as Aston Villa prevented Manchester United moving top of the Premier League with a deserved 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Just when it seemed a catalogue of missed gilt-edged chances would cost Villa a first win at Old Trafford since 2009, defender Kortney Hause broke the deadlock two minutes from time with a brilliant near-post header past a helpless David de Gea. In a dramatic late finale, Hause went from hero to villain in the space of three minutes when he was adjudged to have blocked substitute Edinson Cavani's header with his arm in added time. VAR upheld the contentious on-field decision but Villa justice was served when penalty specialist Fernandes - having kept the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo - blazed woefully over the targe...

Greater Manchester Police has closed its investigation into the online racist abuse of Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe with no action taken. Tuanzebe, who is now on loan at Aston Villa, was also abused on Twitter. Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation in January, but has told Sky Sports News it "exhausted all lines of enquiry". Gortetzka arrived at the Bavaria club in 2018 from Schalke and played a key role in Bayern's Champions League triumph last year under their former head coach Hansi Flick. The 26-year-old has won three Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal twice, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup during his time at Bayern. He also featured in their 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in August in the ...

Champions League: Michael Owen names favourite clubs to win trophy this season

Former Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen, has named Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United as the favourites clubs to win the Champions League ahead of Paris Saint-Germain. Owen feels all the four Premier League clubs are far ahead of other clubs to win the Europe top-flight competition this season, including the PSG, despite the French Ligue 1 giants having Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. The former England international said this while giving his verdicts on Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe combination as PSG drew 1-1 with Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Details of Bruno Fernandes’ new deal revealed

Bruno Fernandes is close to extending his contract with Manchester United, according to the UK Sun. It will be a five-year deal for the Portugal midfielder and a raise to more than £250,000 a week. Fernandes joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for a fee that could rise to almost £70m. However, he has remained on the same terms he initially signed for, despite coming a kind of talisman at Old Trafford. Since his arrival, Fernandes has scored 44 times in 85 matches. Manchester United have renewed the contracts of Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly. But negotiations with Fernandes have proved a little more complex. However, it is understood that he “is near to putting pen to paper”.

Man Utd list three Managers that Could Replace Solskjaer

Manchester United have identified three managers that could replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to the UK Mirror. The Norwegian is under pressure following a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys in the Champions League. Solskjaer’s decisions during the match have been widely criticised, as he took off Jadon Sancho for Diogo Dalot after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off. Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were substituted with 20 minutes left, when the game was still 1-1. United have now lost seven of their 11 Champions League matches under Solskjaer and there are already calls for the Norwegian to be replaced. And there are three obvious candidates who could be available. They are: Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and Brendan Rodgers. Conte and Zidane are immedia...

EPL: Conte gives condition to coach Man Utd

Former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has given a condition to coach Manchester United. According to Italian transfer expert, Gianluca Di Marzio, Conte has reportedly expressed an interest in managing Man United if called upon by the Red Devils. This is coming after Man United lost 2-1 to Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night. “Conte wants to win so he would only accept a winning project. He wouldn’t accept Arsenal because they’re not immediately strong to win something, that is why he [also] said no to Spurs. “I think he would consider Manchester United’s call, if it arrived,” Di Marzio told Sky Sports. Conte is currently out of work, having left Serie A champions, Inter Milan, in the summer after guiding them to their first championship in 11 years. The 5...

Champions League: Man Utd told to sack Solskjaer, hire Conte after defeat to Young Boys

Former Chelsea star, Jason Cundy, has said Manchester United should sack manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, after their 2-1 defeat to Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Cundy described the loss as an “absolute disaster”. United took the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo, but they conceded twice after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card. The pressure is on Solskjaer after last season’s defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League final, but the club backed him this summer by signing Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. Antonio Conte is available after leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season and the Italian could provide the type of short-term success that United so badly need. Cundy told talkSPORT: “United got exactly what they deserved and he’s been exposed agai...

Rio Ferdinand tells Ronaldo to “sit down” after his actions during Young Boys defeat

BT Sport pundit, Rio Ferdinand, has said he would have told Cristiano Ronaldo to “sit down” when the Portugal captain started barking instructions from the touchline during Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Young Boys. Ronaldo opened the scoring against the Swiss side in the Champions League, although United went on to lose. The game turned around after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was shown a straight red card shortly before half-time. Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were withdrawn in the 72nd minute of the match. But rather than take his place on the bench with the rest of the team, Ronaldo stood up and shouted instructions from the technical area, standing side-by-side with Solskjaer, while Fernandes also joined in. His former United teammate Ferdinand was not impressed ...

Cristiano Ronaldo is the Greatest Player of all time’ – Gary Neville reveals reasons for supporting the Manchester United star over Lionel Messi

Manchester United icon, Gary Neville, has labeled Cristiano Ronaldo as "the greatest player of all time" stating reasons why he feels his one time teammate is better than rival, Lionel Messi. Neville says the Portuguese is the finest to ever play the game saying he has a more superior flexibility as a goalscorer than Paris Saint-Germain star, Lionel Messi. "Look, there's no doubt that Messi's scored an obscene amount of goals," Neville stated on Sky Sports ahead of Everton and Burnley's Premier League game on Monday night, September 13. "He's a ridiculous player. "[But] Ronaldo's scored probably 3...
