NDLEA Intercepts Over N2bn Worth of illicit Drugs at Lagos airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted illicit drugs worth over N2billion at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos and three suspected traffickers were arrested. A statement released by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, states that one of the suspects, Aniede Chimezie Bright was arrested on Sunday 28th March 2021, during the outward clearance of passengers on Air Marroc, with 7.1 Kg of Methamphetamine carefully concealed in food spices and packed in a Swiss polo suitcase. The illicit substance was bound for Spain with a street value of over N2 billion. Nigerian Man, Ekwegbalu James Sentenced To Death In Vietnam For Drug Trafficking

A court in the southern Tay Ninh Province of Vietnam on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old Nigerian, Ekwegbalu James Nzube, to death for drug trafficking. Nzube, who was accused of trafficking nearly four kilogrammes of methamphetamine from Cambodia said he got acquainted with another Nigerian, Jone, in China in 2014, and the latter had hired him to transport drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam. In March 2020, he came to Ho Chi Minh City before going to Cambodia to fetch the drugs for which he was paid $2,000 (about N800, 000). He was apprehended by border guards in Tay Ninh Province while trying to cross illegally into Vietnam last July with about four kilogrammes of meth found inside his rucksack. A newly released body camera footage from last year has shown a black suspect being pinned down to death in Oklahoma City. The footage, which was released by the Oklahoma City Police Department this week shows three police officers restraining the man, Derrick Scott, 42, while he repeatedly said “I can’t breathe” before he died at a local hospital. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested four drug couriers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to export narcotics with a total weight of 8.8kg to different countries. One of the suspects, Aniebue Nnamma (50), a clothier at the Aswani Market Lagos, inserted eleven wraps of cocaine weighing 460g in his anus.
