Mohammed, son of the late fiery lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi, is dead. The legal practitioner and Head of Mohammed Fawehinmi Chambers, was 52 years old. The activist died on Wednesday after complaining of difficulty in breathing. He was rushed to a hospital. Mohammed was a 1991 graduate of Business Administration, University of Lagos (UNILAG). The deceased obtained an LLB degree from the University of Buckingham, England, and was called to Nigerian Bar in 1998. Mohammed had over 20 years experience in the practice of law. 9-year-old Boy Drowns in an Open Well in Kano State

On Monday, a nine-year-old boy identified as Haliru Abdullahi drowned at Kofar Kudu in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State, in an open well. A 23-year-old man, Abubakar Yahaya who got into a fight over a girlfriend ended up chopping off his rival’s hand. It was gathered that the fight between Abubakar Yahaya and Mohammed Jafar in Yola, Adamawa State, was sparked by Mariam Boni, Mohammed’s girlfriend’s decision to end their relationship to start dating Jafar. Eyewitnesses told newsmen that Yahaya made several attempts to stop Mohammed from seeing Mariam, however after Mohammed refused to give in to his threat, he ambushed him on November 21st with his friends and during the attack, used a matchete to chop off Mohammed’s hands. The Kano State Fire Service said fire destroyed 77 temporary shops at Kasuwar Kurmi (‘Yan Gumama) Market in Kano. No fewer than 191 people have lost their lives in 294 road crashes in parts of Kogi from January to October this year. Mr Suleiman Mohammed, Head of Operations of the Kogi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) made the disclosure on Tuesday in Lokoja. The Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway is listed among the accident-prone highways in Nigeria. A 28-year-old businessman, Abdullahi Mohammed, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for sexual abuse of three boys. Mohammed was sentenced on Friday following his arraignment at a Jos Upper Area Court. According to the Prosecutor, Sgt Ibrahim Gukwat, the incident took place on October 22.
