Police in Lagos raid Mushin, arrest 10 suspects

The Lagos State Police Command carried raided Mushin area and environs. Ten suspected criminals in all identified hideouts were arrested. The youths allegedly took part in recent cult clashes and other punishable activities. A statement on Thursday by Adekunle Ajisebutu, Police Pulic Relations Officer said the operation did not infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens. “The aim is to take the fight to the doorsteps of criminals and miscreants whose stock-in-trade is causing pain and losses to innocent residents”, he noted. The spokesman recalled the directive of Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu to rid Lagos of unscrupulous elements. Lagos Police arrest 25 suspected cultists within 24-hours

Operatives of Operation Crush from the Anti-Cultism Unit have arrested 25 suspected cultists in the Ijora, Mushin, and Bariga areas of Lagos State within a space of 24-hours.   The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command,  Bala Elkana, disclosed this in a statement saying the team of security operatives arrested one Olaitan Rilwan on Saturday last week at the Ijora roundabout.   Elkana noted that the 20-year-old suspect, who confessed to being a member of the Ayie Confraternity, was intercepted with an automatic pistol concealed in his bag. After the formal declaration by the vice President Yemi Osinbajo, work has finally commence on the construction of the Lagos Ibadan Railway project. Demolition of structures on the right of way along the route has commence. Structures at Mushin, Agege, Iju & Agbado are being pulled down. The rail line which will cover a distance of 156.65 kilometres was awarded to the CCECC at the of $1.5 billion after Buhari visited China June 2016. Of the project cost, VP Osinbajo disclosed that the federal government had paid its counterpart funding of N72 billion, which he said, was a condition for the loan facilities it obtained from the Exim Bank of China for the project.
