Osinbajo Declares NBA Virtual Annual Conference Open

The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday virtually declared open the 60th four-day Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference, in Abuja. We gathered that the opening remarks was done by Prof. Osinbajo on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari who was earlier invited to the program. VP Osinbajo is currently attending from the Vice President's Office, at the presidential villa, in Abuja. Prominent persons in attendance include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammed, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and members of the NBA led by Paul Usoro. The Nigerian Bar Association has withdrawn its invitation to Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, following protests from some lawyers. With nine days to the 60th annual Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Conference, some lawyers on social media have queried the inclusion of Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai as one of the key speakers in the forthcoming virtual conference NBA had on May 12, 2020, stated that it will hold its Annual General Conference (AGC) slated for August virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
