Dr Yunusa Tanko, National Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), has denied reports credited to him that President Muhammadu Buhari was poisoned through air conditioners in his office. National chairmen of the parties, Tanko Yunusa and Okey Nwosu, and the National Publicity Secretary of the SDP, Alfa Mohammed, who spoke separately in Abuja demanded apologies from the President for keeping Nigerians in the dark over his health status. They insisted that the President’s broadcast fell short of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians. Nwosu, who said it was heartwarming the President is back to the country, however, described the broadcast as depressing. “We have to thank God that our President came back healthy, strong and but I must say that the President’s speech is very ...

This week’s pledge by the Minister of Mines & Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, to work with a Russian firm to reactivate the Aluminium Smelting Company of Nigeria, ALSCON, in Ikot-Abasi, is in clear violation of a Supreme Court judgement, PREMIUM TIMES can report. The Supreme Court, Nigeria’s apex court, had on two separate occasions ordered that the company be taken away from the Russian firm, UC RUSAL. On Wednesday, Mr. Fayemi’s aides distributed a statement indicating the minister’s visit to ALSCON and his pledge to work with UC RUSAL. The Chairman/Chief Executive of BFIGroup, Reuben Jaja, who was reacting to Mr. Fayemi’s visit to the plant, said the minister’s action was not only illegal, but contemptuous of the Supreme Court, which has ruled twice, sacking the Russians f...

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has said that although the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a platform under which he ran for a second term but lost in the 2015 elections failed to win the presidency seat, the failure however did not diminish the party. Jonathan said this while receiving the party’s delegation who visited him at his Abuja home on Monday. The visit by the leadership and Strategy Review Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was to intimate the ex-President on the party’s steps towards taking back power from the now ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, party in 2019. “We lost the Presidency but that does not diminish PDP.
