The minister was speaking on a controversy generated by a claim by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, that the Central Bank of Nigeria printed N60bn in March to augment the money shared at March FAAC. How To Create An Atmosphere For Religious Co-Existence In Nigeria By Reno Omokri

Nigerian Christians and Muslims are very much the problem of Nigeria. In fact some atheists are better than them. You can reject a religion without hating those who practice it. Once we understand that, Nigeria will progress. God’s religion is love. You can’t love God and hate man! Many Nigerian Christians and Muslims do not even realise that their choice of religion is not even their choice. It is an illusion of choice. Their parents were Christians or Muslims, and that is all they have ever known. And on the basis of this faux choice, they hate practitioners of other religion. Learn from the parable of the Good Samaritan. When the Jewish traveler was attacked by robbers, first a Jewish priest, then a Levite passed, and refused to help the Jew, until a Samaritan passed by. Th...

Terrorism Financing: Dozens Arrested In Nationwide Crackdown

Dozens of persons have been arrested by security agents in an ongoing nationwide crackdown on suspected financiers and collaborators of Boko Haram and other criminal groups in Nigeria. This is coming five months after Daily Trust exclusively reported jailing of six Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates over allegations of terrorism financing. The ongoing inter-agency operation is being led by a top intelligence officer, with an army general leading a task team comprising military personnel and staff from intelligence services. Multiple sources informed Daily Trust that the closely-guarded operation is being coordinated by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central ...

“My country has ruined me” Nigerian doctor narrates how a friend in Finland broke down in tears at discovering how doctors ‘search for patients’ veins’ in Nigeria”

A doctor in Nigeria narrated how he discovered that the method used by some doctors/nurses to search for patients' veins in Nigeria is 'outdated and causes avoidable pain.' He explained that he was speaking to his friend in Finland about slapping patients to find their veins and the woman started sobbing, asking why patients who are already sick should have to receive slaps. He added that the woman revealed to him that they have something called the vein finder, used to easily detect a person's vein to avoid pricking the patient multiple times or slapping them while searching for their vein. He blamed Nigeria for his ignorance, writing: "My country has made the abnormal seem normal for me. My country has ruined me." Read his tweets below.

Those In Charge Of Nigeria Are Clueless – Babaginda Aliyu

A former governor of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has chided the leadership of the country, saying Nigeria’s economy has been plunged into grave danger in the last six years. Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Friday, Aliyu alleged alleged the country has been weakened by bad policies, poor implementation, wastages and plundering of resources. He said armed bandits and kidnappers have further worsened the state of the economy. “Those in the driver’s seat have been clueless on how to turn the economic wheel around out of its wood and the country has continued to slide into doldrums, greater pains, penury and uncertainty,” he said. He argued that the economic policies put in place in the past six years have been inconsequential and of little effect to redress the w...

“We Lost Twitter Headquarters To Ghana Due To EndSARS Protest” – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alh Lai Mohammed has reacted to the choice of Ghana as the location for Twitter new African office over Nigeria and other countries. The Minister, while responding to question from Vanguard, said the decision by the US-based social media company to locate its African headquarters in Accra, Ghana was not a commercial and business one. But he was quick to condemn the unpatriotic attitude of some Nigerians, especially the media who he said have always struggle to outdo one another in painting Nigeria as a hail where no one can live. Mohammed argued that the natural expectation is that Nigeria should have been the hub of Twitter business in this part of Africa, given that fact that it has about 25m twitter users against 8m in Ghana. “The...

But China sef, can any good thing come from China? Everything about them is today today there is no tomorrow or future Africa is finished. A ship from Nigeria has been impounded in China whilst trying to smuggle in 7,200 joysticks. Hundreds of thousands of Nigerian joysticks are smuggled into China every year. Nigeria is the worlds largest exporter of joysticks & this is why kidnapping & ritual killings are rife here. What do the Chinese do with these joysticks & why are they obsessed with Nigerian ones in particular? This is not joke but a serious question. The Chinese should leave our joysticks alone & tho...

Seven years after hundreds of schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram jihadists in Chibok, northeast Nigeria, more than 100 are still missing, Amnesty International said Wednesday. Several more mass kidnappings of schoolchildren have occurred in northern Nigeria since Chibok, resulting in hundreds of schools being shut in a region where the literacy rate and school enrolment are already very low. On 14 April 2014, Boko Haram gunmen seized 276 girls aged between 12 and 17 from the Government Girls Secondary School in the remote town of Chibok in Borno state. "Although most escaped or were later released, more than 100 girls remain in captivity," Amnesty International said in a statement. Onnoghen: Nigeria’s Flawed Democracy – Oke Umurhohwo

Democracy is a unique form of government and one of its enticing features is the separation of power. This is the principle that spread the power of the state between the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary– a system that effectively promotes checks and balances. But this feature is serially lacking in Nigeria, although the country is widely viewed as a democratic nation. While Nigeria, just like most democratic nations, has its government structured along with the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary, it practically operates with an executive domineering on the two other arms of government. A typical indication is a recent revelation by a former chief justice of the country, Walter Onnoghen, on how the executive masterminded his removal from office. Onnoghen w...
