  Following the evacuation of many nationals from Afghanistan due to the recent takeover of the government by the Taliban, the Federal government says there are no Nigerians in the country for evacuation. Since the takeover by the Taliban, different world leaders have begun the evacuation of their citizens from the country. While the US has since evacuated 4500 of its citizens, the UK government has evacuated 15, 000 persons under the Operation Pitting Evacuation mission. Reacting to calls for the evacuation of Nigerians in the country, the spokesperson of NiDCOM, Abdul-rahman Balogun, said there are no Nigerians in Afghanistan. “We don’t have any Nigerian in Afghanistan. That’s why we are not carrying out evacuation from the country.”

A total of 430,363 Nigerians have completed their registration for permanent voter card (PVC) after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) launched its online portal on June 28, 2021 for Nigerians to commence the registration process ahead of the 2023 general elections. The online registeration started ahead of a full physical registration exercise which commenced on July 26. Ghana to deport another batch of Nigerians over illegal stay

At least forty-four Nigerians will be deported for various offences, including illegally staying in Ghana.   The deportees were reportedly sentenced to 99 days imprisonment and will be deported after serving their sentence. Those in prison are 43 males and one female   Sources told Ghana news outlet Joy News that a team of escort officers, comprising Immigration officers, would lead the deportees from Tamale to Accra to receive their deportation letters before escorting them out of the country.   According to the source, arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth exercise for the deportation.   The news outlet also noted that this is the first time the Immigration Service is deporting a large group of people from the area.   It com...

Billionaire Businessman and husband of actress Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko has disclosed that he is in support of the Twitter ban in the country. Speaking at a June 12 lecture organised by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council, Nwoko stated that social media needs to be controlled and regulated in countries.
