High Profile Nigerians to Face Prosecution for financing Terrorism – AGF Abubakar Malami

The Attorney-General of the Federation has disclosed that some high profile Nigerians will be facing prosecution for financing terrorism. This is coming after over 400 businessmen were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). NIN: BLS International Seals Biometric Services Deal For Nigerians Living In UK

A partnership deal has been struck between outsourcing service provider BLS International and data and digital enrolment services firm Files Solutions Limited to help Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) offer biometric enrollment services to Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom, BLS said in a press release. There are an estimated 205,000 Nigerians in the UK, with about 97,000 of them living in London. Per the three-year deal, BLS will enable NIMC to enroll the biometrics and biographical data of the Nigerians for the issuance of national identification numbers (NINs) as part of a digital identity database enrolment program which is also ongoing back home. The United States mission in Nigeria has announced that it will prioritise applications for student visas and plan interview appointments “well in advance” of school resumption. Susan Tuller, US mission country consular coordinator, also said on Friday that the mission “will make every effort to assist student visa applicants in a timely fashion while keeping personnel and customers safe.” The lockdown introduced to slow the spread of the coronavirus had hindered operations at the US embassy in Abuja and the consulate general in Lagos. Ghana has announced plans to deport Nigerians who are in the country illegally. Out of 507 illegal immigrants arrested in Ghana, 494 are Nigerians, David Fianko-Okyere, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and spokesperson for the Regional Police Command, said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga. The police spokesperson said the region had implemented a new strategy which included a 24-hour robust patrol on highways and swoops, especially in the Bolgatanga Township. Ghana Police Arrest Nigerians For Selling Indian Hemp

The Central Regional Police Thursday rounded up 340 suspected criminals in and around the Kasoa township. According to reports by Graphic Online, the suspects, who are mostly Nigerians, included five females. Nine of the suspects were found in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Items retrieved included 245 laptops, 142 assorted mobile phones, and six Nigerian passports. The police swooped on them at various locations in Buduburam, Adade, CP, Akwele and Ofaakor.
