Police Station Burnt As Warders, Okada Riders Clash In Ibadan

There was pandemonium at the Agodi Gate area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, following a clash between some motorcyclists and warders at the Agodi Correctional Centre. The clash led to the burning of the Idi Ogungun Police Outstation by some angry youths, while another police station opposite the centre was reportedly damaged. Our correspondent gathered that a motorcyclist was shot by one of the warders, but some eyewitnesses claimed that the teargas canister, which the warder held, exploded and injured the motorcyclist in the face. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against cutting down the health and education budgets in the proposed 2020 revised appropriation. Okada Riders Burn FRSC Office in Minna

A group of commercial motorcycle, Okada riders, in Minna, Niger state on Friday razed down the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC office over the alleged death of one their members. According to a report by The Punch, the death of the rider was alleged to have been caused by the FRSC officials. It was learnt that the late motorcyclist rode against traffic along the GRA in the state and in a bid to arrest him, the FRSC officials on patrol opened their vehicle door to block his motorcycle. Barring any last-minute change, Gov Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State would ban Okada riders in the state. This was disclosed on Thursday by Gov Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Remmy Hazzan. Hazzan, while addressing newsmen after the launch of his book, ‘Wisdom Nugget for Daily Living’ in Abeokuta, said okada riders would be phased out from Ogun State gradually.
