Native Doctor Follows Omoyele Sowore to Court in Abuja

There was a mild drama at the Wuse, Zone 2 Magistrate Court Abuja this morning March 2, as a traditional spiritual leader dressed in full regalia accompanied human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore in solidarity for the commencement of his trial. Sowore was arrested alongside four others on December 31m 2020, for organizing a candlelight procession and charged for alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and inciting public disturbance. A magistrate court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has granted bail to Omoyele Sowore, convener of the Revolution Now Movement, in the sum of N20 million. Sowore, Peter Williams, Sanyaolu Juwon, Emmanuel Bulus and Damilare Adenola were arrested on New Year’s eve during a procession organised and led by Sowore. The police had arraigned the five persons last Monday on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and incitement. Recall that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu had imposed a N100m bail bond on Sowore who was arrested on charges of treason, money laundering and insulting the president in 2019.
