Cholera outbreak: Ogun govt, community differ on death toll

The Ogun State Government has debunked a claim by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee, CDC, in Magboro, Oluwasegun Oladosu, that about 25 persons had died of Cholera outbreak in the past few days. Government, however, did not reveal the number of casualties, saying it is still being investigated by public health workers. Oladosu had listed the affected communities to include Arepo, Akeran, Abule-Oko, Akintonde and others, all in Obafemi-Owode Local Government. The community leader alleged that about 15 Hausas living in Kara were said to have died of the ailment. However, the Ogun State Government said such number of casualties have not been recorded since the disease broke out. According to a report by SaharaReporters, no less than six persons have been abducted at Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada area council of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory around 11:46 pm on Monday. The kidnappers were said to have invaded some houses at Anguwar Dabiri and Anguwar Sarki within the metropolis. The gunmen divided themselves into three groups before attacking three houses in the area, a source said. Suspected Boko Haram terrorists, yesterday, blocked a bus plying Igboho-Igbeti Road and reportedly abducted eight passengers from the bus. The Enugu State police command on Thursday confirmed two persons died in a fracas at the Gariki Market in Awkunanaw, Enugu. The command’s Police Public Relations of Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said the fracas broke out late on Wednesday.
