Plateau State University ASUU Commences Indefinite Strike

The Plateau State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has commenced an indefinite strike action. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ASUU chapter said it embarked on strike due to insecurity, poor infrastructural development and arrears of earned allowances for its members amounting to over N215 million. Dr Pamson Bentse, chairman of the union in the university, disclosed this on Friday, January 15, in Jos. He said the decision to proceed on strike was reached after its congress meeting, held at the University’s main campus, in Bokkos. FEC Approves N1.23bn For Plateau State University, Customs

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N1.23 billion for the construction of a faculty of health services at the Plateau State University, Bokkos and the procurement of computers and printers for zonal and area commands of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced this on Wednesday while briefing State House reporters on the outcome of the second virtual cabinet meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari. Gunmen Rape Student In Plateau State University

A student of the Plateau State University was reportedly raped by unknown gunmen, who attacked the school. President of the Students’ Union, Ezekiel Lutei said the gunmen attacked the university located in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state. He said, “What happened was that there was a rehearsal for a play production by some 200level and 400level students of the Theatre Arts Department at the Open Air Theatre. “While the rehearsal was going on, the gunmen stormed the place around 10pm on Monday and attacked the students.
