Northern Nigeria records 3541 cholera cases in 2 weeks

Northern Nigeria has recorded 3541 cholera cases in just two weeks. Six states in Northern Nigeria reported 3,541 cases of cholera in the last two weeks, 13 June to 26 June precisely, with 325 dead in six months. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), gave the figures in Abuja today. Most affected is Bauchi state, which has recorded 2,139 cases, about one-seventh of the 14,343 cases posted from January to June. Kano, is the second worst affected state. It logged 937 cases in the last two weeks. Other states with cholera cases in the last two weeks are Zamfara with 169 cases and Kaduna with 129. Niger reported 62 cases and Plateau nine.

The Plateau state government has declared 24 hours curfew in Jos south and Jos north local government areas over violence.   Governor Lalong said he was forced to declare the curfew after “hoodlums attacked and molested innocent citizens who are going about their normal businesses.” He further revealed that this led to the death of 3 persons.   The Governor said;   “Government is left with no choice than to impose a curfew to stop further loss of lives and properties. “By this directive, all forms of protests are hereby banned in the two Local Governments Areas of Jos North and Jos South.”

Lassa Fever: NCDC Confirms 11 New Deaths in Nigeria

11 new deaths have been confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the recent Lassa fever outbreak ravaging most states in the country. The development brings the total number of death recorded to 132. In its report for week 9, NCDC revealed that out of a total of 421 suspected cases, 85 were confirmed and 11 deaths reported from 30 local governments in nine states.   The affected states are Edo, Ondo, Ebonyi, Bauchi, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Taraba and Kebbi. 103 Killed by Lassa Fever in 16 States

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday February 19, revealed that that 103 people have been killed by Lassa fever since its recent outbreak on December 30, 2019. Late victims of the disease resided in Ondo, Edo, Ebonyi, Kano, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi, Enugu, Abia, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Sokoto and Katsina. A total of 586 cases have been confirmed across the country. INEC has showed on their website how President Buhari benefited from manual voting during the 2015 presidential elections. According to a report on the commission’s website, President Buhari got most of the votes cast without bio-metric verification during the election. According to the report, 13,536,311 votes were cast manually during the 2015 presidential poll, representing 42.6 percent of the 31,746,490 accredited voters. Domestic Debts Of 36 States, FCT Hit N3.5trn In H1’18

The Debt Management Office (DMO), yesterday, said the domestic debt stock of the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) stood at N3.5 trillion as at the first half of 2018 (H1’18). The figure indicates that the states and FCT increased their debt stock by about N200 billion or 6.0 percent over the N3.3 trillion recorded at the end of December 2017. According to data released by DMO on its website, Lagos State has the highest debt stock at N517 billion or 17 percent of the total debt stock of states. NCDC: Lassa Fever Death Toll Rises To 101

The death toll from the Lassa fever disease ravaging the country since the beginning of the year has risen to 101, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has said. The health agency, in its situation report of April 8, said 408 cases of the disease had been confirmed from 20 states, where the disease has been active. The Nigerian Secur‎ity and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Plateau Command, said on Tuesday that it had arrested 44 suspects for various crimes in the first quarter of 2018.
