Update: Court of Arbitration for Sport lifts FIFA’s suspension on Pape Gueye with the footballer to go ahead and play for Senegal at AFCON

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, on Monday provisionally lifted a FIFA ban on Pape Gueye, paving the way for Marseille midfielder to play for Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. The OM midfielder was subject to investigation after agreeing on personal terms with Watford over a move, only to change his mind and joined Marseille in the summer of 2020. The world football governing body, FIFA, decided to ban the player whilst they investigated the strange scenario regarding his transfer. This meant that he would be ineligible for the current Africa Cup of Nations tournament. But the Lausanne-based court has not yet ruled on the FIFA decision to ban the 22-year-old from all official competitions for four months because he “is no longer suspended for the moment”, a C...

According to the Sunday Mirror, Haaland could be available for £63 million next summer transfer window due to a release clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund. Rangnick was working as Red Bull Salzburg’s director of football when he was able to secure the signing of Haaland from Molde in 2019. The report added that Man United’s hierarchy believes Rangnick could play a key role in helping convince Haaland to make the move to Old Trafford due to his positive relationship with the 21-year-old forward and his father, Alf-Inge. What I told Rangnick about becoming Man United Manager – Nagelsmann

Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann has said that he sent a message to Ralf Rangnick, telling him it’s ‘great’ that he is being appointed as the interim manager at Manchester United. All is set for Rangnick to be announced as the next manager at Old Trafford on an interim basis until the end of the season. This is following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last Sunday. The Norwegian was sacked after he led the team to a 4-1 defeat to lowly Watford. Nagelsmann was one of the managers inspired by Rangnick with his pressing philosophy. “I texted him and told him I think it’s great,” Nagelsmann told a press conference on Friday. “He will do United very well with the way he plays football. “I believe that United will play good games in the next few week...

Chelsea dealt another injury blow as Chilwell faces lengthy layoff

The England international will not play again until 2022 Chelsea face a nervous wait to see if Ben Chilwell requires surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will sideline the defender for at least six weeks. The England international suffered the injury during the first half of Tuesday’s Champions League thrashing of Juventus at Stamford Bridge. Blues boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed Chilwell does not need to go under the knife straightaway, though that may change if the injury fails to recover sufficiently.

Ralf Rangnick taking over at Man Utd is not good news – Klopp

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has said Manchester United hiring Ralf Rangnick is not good news. According to him, Manchester United is making a very shrewd appointment by bringing in Rangnick. Rangnick, 63, is set to leave his role as head of sport and development at Lokomotiv Moscow and become interim manager at Old Trafford. Klopp knows Rangnick well, with his own high-pressing style of play heavily influenced by the ‘Godfather of gegenpressing’. Speaking ahead of facing Southampton on Saturday, Klopp said at his pre-match press conference on Friday: “So it’s a bit tricky, usually we don’t talk about things that are not confirmed yet but if you tell me it will happen then I might believe you. “Yeah, unfortunately a good coach is coming to England, that’s how it is, to...

Former senior team coach, Michael Carrick was called upon to feel the managerial space until an interim manager is appointed. “We have a saying in Czech: ‘the new broom sweeps better’,’ wrote the west London club’s technical and performance advisor Cech in his column for Chelsea’s website. “It’s always tricky when you play teams with a new manager. That’s what our next opponents Manchester United will be hoping for on Sund...

The former Real Madrid star stated this while reacting to PSG’s Champions League 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night. Man City defeated PSG in England, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. Mbappe did score for the French Ligue 1 giants at the Etihad Stadium. You’re not silly to let him go – Cole warns Chelsea over ‘special player’

Chelsea legend, Joe Cole has warned Chelsea against selling ‘special player’ Conor Gallagher. Cole sees Gallagher as a ‘special’ talent and believes he could have a huge future at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old secured another loan at the start of the summer after spending last term with West Brom. The midfielder has scored four goals and two assists this season as his performances improved under the tutelage of Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace where he is spending the 2021-22 season on loan. Cole believes strongly that Chelsea have no plans to cash in on the youngster as a host of top clubs are already plotting moves for him. The ex-England winger feels Gallagher could even be pushing Mateo Kovacic for a place in Chelsea’s XI next season. “He can play b...

David Seaman Predicts Liverpool vs Arsenal at Anfield

Arsenal legend, David Seaman has predicted the outcome of the Premier League clash between his former club and Liverpool on Saturday. The former England goalkeeper also pleaded with the Gunners not to shatter the confidence he is building on them with a heavy defeat to Liverpool. According to Seaman, Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale and the defenders would have ‘quite a busy day’ in the ‘really difficult’ clash away at Anfield, but the Gunners will come away with a point. Arsenal are now just six points behind league leaders Chelsea heading into Saturday’s clash and are on a ten-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to bounce back after suffering their opening defeat of the season away to West Ham. “My head is tell...

I won’t interfere in Hudson-Odoi’s England snub – Chelsea coach, Tuchel

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has reacted to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s decision to snub the call up to the England U21 team. Tuchel said he would not interfere, adding that it was Hudson-Odoi’s decision to reject the chance to play for England. DAILY POST reports that the winger recently turned down the opportunity to represent England’s Under-21 side. The 20-year-old was rather expecting a call-up to the senior national team. Speaking on the development ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, Tuchel said at his pre-match press conference on Friday: “It is Callum’s choice and I will not interfere. Liverpool vs Arsenal: Arteta Gives Update on Injuries to Aubameyang, Partey

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he cannot guarantee Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will play against Liverpool on Saturday. Aubameyang had returned early from international duty with Gabon after he picked up the knock. Arteta was asked on Friday if Aubameyang’s early return was planned. “No, it wasn’t pre-planned. We had to assess him and see how he is and make decisions. We have a lot of players who have been through different game issues, little injuries so today we have to test everybody,” Arteta replied. When asked if he had come back with a particular injury Arteta adds: “Let’s see how everybody is. We have to see them today before assessing and making a judgement.” On the fitness of midfielder Thomas Partey, Arteta added: “Same again. He couldn’t pla...

Chelsea star told to leave club Immediately

Kevin Phillips has told Chelsea starlet, Billy Gilmour to leave Norwich City where he is currently on loan and move to Leeds United immediately. Philips wants the player to cut short his loan spell at Norwich in favour of a January loan move to Leeds. The youngster played seven times for Chelsea in the Premier League last season, but struggled to break into Thomas Tuchel’s team towards the end of the campaign. He was sent out on loan to Norwich in the summer as he sought some much-needed top flight game time. However, the move has not yielded any positive results so far, with the Scotland international only making four appearances in Norwich’s opening 11 Premier League matches. Norwich are currently rooted to the bottom of the table on just five points and Ph...
