3 Policemen Shot Dead At Abia Police Checkpoint

Gunmen have attacked a Police checkpoint in Agu Eze amaogudu, Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, killing three policemen. The dead officers were identified Inspector Austin Ugwu, Inspector Longinus Ugochukwu, PC Ama Ifeanyi. The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, who in company of security agents, visited the community, assured residents that the State Government will deploy all necessary resources available to ensure their protection. Anambra CP, Kuryas Visits Checkpoint Attacked By Hoodlums

The new Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas, has visited two spots in Mkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area and Omogho in Orumba North, where gunmen attacked police patrol teams this morning. According to eye witnesses, the gunmen who drove in both a salon car and a Mercedes Benz 4Matic SUV, opened fire on the policemen who had been deployed on patrol in the two areas. The attackers also set a police patrol van on fire. There was no immediate motive for the attacks or the number of casualties involved as at the time of this report, but the Anambra State Police Commissioner has assured that the hoodlums would soon be captured.

Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint in Anambra, Set Patrol Vans Ablaze

Unknown Gunmen have again attacked a police Checkpoint in Omogho in Orumba North, of Anambra State today (Wednesday). According to eye witnesses, the gunmen who drove in Mercedes Benz 4Matic SUV, opened fire on the policemen who had been deployed on patrol in the area. Though the number of casualties was not immediately available, the attackers also set police patrol vans on fire and carted away arms. This is the 2nd attack today in Anambra. The first attack claimed the lives of two Police officers on duty.
