Suspected Nigerian peddler arrested with drugs worth over N10m in India

A 30-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested in Mumbai by the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) with drugs worth over N10m. The accused identified as Chikou Jerome Amen was nabbed when he had come to deliver the contraband substance on Thursday, May 20. A total of 150 grams of mephedrone (MD) worth ?18 lakh was seized from him. Acting on a specific information, a team from Bandra unit of ANC laid a trap at K C Road in Bandra west on Thursday afternoon and apprehended Amen at the scene. After the 150 grams of MD was recovered, the accused was booked under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act. He was produced before the court on Friday which sent him to police custody.

Iniubong Umoren’s Killer is not Dead- Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner says

The Commissioner for Police in Akwa Ibom state, Andrew Amiengheme, has dismissed reports claiming that Mr. Uduak Ezekiel Akpan, the suspected killer of job seeker, Miss Iniubong Umoren,  committed suicide in its police custody. Reports that 20-year Akpan, who allegedly lured Miss Umoren with a job offer and subsequently raped and killed her, had committed suicide, was rife online today. The reports claim that he committed suicide with his trousers tied to metal after having his meal. Dismissing the report, the state police boss in an interview with The Nation, said ”It is not true that Uduak Akpan has committed suicide. The suspect is in our custody. Maybe he committed suicide in the bedrooms of those peddling the rumour.”

A 10-year-old girl who was stolen from her parents in Akwa Ibom State in 2018, has been rescued by Anambra Police Command after being sold to a couple in the state for N800,000. Anambra State Police Spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the arrest of the couple who bought the little girl and further disclosed that they changed her name from Favour Asuquo to Faith Ezeugwu. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko will spend two more nights in police custody pending a ruling on his bail application. Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate directed that Sonko be remanded until Wednesday, December 11 when the court will rule on whether to grant him and his co-accused bail. The Governor and his co-accused will be remanded at the Industrial Area Remand Prison. Police operatives attached to the Enugu state command have arrested one Tochukwu Idu Chianugo for allegedly killing and beheading one Sussana Enejere of Ugbene Ajima in Uzo Uwani LGA of Enugu State. According to Coalcity Connect, the deceased Sussana left for farm in the morning of Monday 26th March, 2018 but did not return home. The police was notified and investigation carried out lead to the arrest of Tochukwu. On interrogation, Tochukwu confessed to killing Sussana and burying her body in a shallow grave. The corpse and the severed head of Sussana has since been deposited in a mortuary as the suspect is in Police Custody. 14 In Police Custody Over Fresh Clashes In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has declared that no fewer than fourteen (14) people have been arrested in connection with the recent clashes that occurred in some areas within Ibadan metropolis. It will be recalled that many people were injured while properties worth millions of naira were destroyed when some people suspected to be hoodlums unleashed terror in Oke-Ado area on Tuesday. Some houses were reportedly burgled during the incident. Spokesman of the Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu while confirming the arrest of the fourteen suspects, however, declared that peace had returned to the area. He said that investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the clash had commenced.
