Clark disclosed this when a presidential aspirant, Anyim Pius Anyim, visited him on Friday. He urged Anyim to collaborate with leaders across Nigeria to build consensus for equity and unity. Clark noted his passionate “belief that the presidency of Nigeria in 2023 must go to the Southern part of Nigeria and indeed to South-East zone. “I encourage you and others to continue the task of persuading and reassuring other Nigerians to share that vision.” Some political stakeholders have been advocating for a Nigerian president of the Southeast extraction. Paul Jatau: Value Added Tax, preparing for tomorrow

The Value Added Tax (VAT) war that is being spearheaded by the Governors of Rivers and Lagos States is a wake-up call for the remaining states that make up the Nigerian nation. It is a wake-up call because it is a sign that the long abandoned fiscal federalism is beginning to manifest and probably reinvent itself. This, for me, is a sign of great things to expect and a test for the political class that sought after power each political season. This and other agitations that are found all over the place are a positive and good sign for the growth and development of our society. Positive because our politics would take a different form and shape. Everyone looking for a political office must be able to convince the voting public that he has capacity and is bringing a basket full o...

“It’s a kind of entitlement mentality” – Lawmaker Akin Alabi addresses political office holders

Member of the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi has addressed political office holders who expect same patronage they enjoyed while in power to continue after their tenure.   The lawmaker in a tweet he reposted on Instagram on Sunday, September 12, said the phone calls and friendly overtures people make to politicians are not personal but because of the power they hold.   "When you were in office, a lot of people were calling you and trying to be your friend. Now that you are out of office, you are disappointed those people no longer call you. Firstly, why would you want them to disturb you? Secondly, it's not personal. It was the office, not you," he wrote.   "I don’t understand how people still expect the patrona...

How Governor Nasir El-Rufai ‘Secretly’ Withdrew His Son From Public School

The governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has secretly withdrawn his son, Abubakar Al-Sadiq from Kaduna Capital School after what many observers described as “political and media stunt” to give the impression that he is like any commoner. While the enrolment of Al-Sadiq in the public school was greeted by massive commendation from all walks of life, the removal of the son was not made public, a development seen by many as “betrayal of public trust and confidence.” It is not clear why the governor made a U-turn as some commentators said it could be due to the widespread abduction by kidnappers in public schools especially in Kaduna and neighbouring states, or pressure from family, or lack or doubts on the capacity of the government school to groom his son as what obtains...
