Juventus have no plans to axe Pirlo before end of season

The Serie A club lost their title to Inter and are in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification Juventus have no plans to make a decision on coach Andrea Pirlo’s future before the end of the season. Iheanacho Bags 18th Goal Of The Season As Leicester Suffer Top-Four

Kelechi Iheanacho returned to scoring form as he netted for Leicester but it was not enough as they lost 4-2 at home to Newcastle in Friday night’s Premier League game, a result which does not help their pursuit for top-four finish, Rushhoursport.com reports. Iheanacho got Leicester’s second goal with three minutes left in the game after cutting from the right before hitting a low strike into the bottom corner. It was Iheanacho’s 11th goal in 22 Premier League appearances this season and his 18th strike in all competitions in the current campaign. Also, he has now scored 10 Premier League goals since the start of March, the most of any player. Ziyech is a copy-cat of Mahrez’ – Tuchel is playing Chelsea star out of position, says Leboeuf

Thomas Tuchel is playing Hakim Ziyech out of position, according to Frank Leboeuf, who says the Chelsea star is a "copy-cat" of Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez. Ziyech was handed only his 14th Premier League start for Chelsea as they picked up a 2-0 west London derby victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Blues were good value for their victory, but Ziyech was largely ineffective in a No.10 role and made way for N'Golo Kante just after the hour mark, leaving Leboeuf concerned that his talents are not being properly utilised.

Zuckerberg takes swipe at Twitter for fact-checking Trump

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has defended the platform’s decision to fact-check Donald Trump’s tweets after Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg questioned the move. Earlier this week, Twitter added fact-checking labels to two tweets from the US president which made unsubstantiated claims about “fraudulent” postal voting in the US. Trump threatened to “close down” social media sites in response, claiming they are biased against him and other conservative voices. Zuckerberg has now also weighed into the argument, telling Fox News that Facebook had a different approach and that private companies such as social media sites should not be the “arbiter of truth”. “I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online,” he said. “Private com...

Chelsea boss Lampard: We won’t copy Liverpool or Man City

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard does not see his side copying Liverpool or Manchester City in the pursuit of success. Lampard has enjoyed a decent first season with the Blues, as they are in fourth position in the Premier League. He knows that he will be expected to challenge for the title next season, but he does not want to copy any other club's blueprint to get there. Speaking on Sky Sports, Lampard said: "I don't want to jump the gun because what Liverpool and Manchester City have done has been clear; I'd be a fool to suggest we can bridge that gap quickly because there has been a lot of hard work at those clubs in terms of recruitment of top players, of great coaches. "We have to be part of that process. We have to do it our way, we can't try to copy. We have had experienced...

Premier league clubs to get prize money to ease financial woes

Premier League clubs are set to be handed millions of pounds due to be awarded at the end of the season to help ease problems caused by the coronavirus outbreak. According to The Times, 20 clubs agreed last week to release some of the funds that are paid out on a team’s final position in the table. They claim that will see each club receive an advance ranging from several million for those at the bottom to a sum of over £20m for the top sides. That also includes a chunk of cash expected to be awarded as “facility fees” – a figure paid for each time a club appears on a live TV broadcast. There is still a quarter of the campaign to be played but the Premier League has already received its broadcast income from overseas TV companies plus Sky Sports and BT Sport domestically. Th...

Man Utd defender Jones: My best position was midfield

Manchester United defender Phil Jones admits he grew up as a midfielder. Jones joined United from Blackburn Rovers and admits central midfield was his more natural position. He explained that, earlier in his career, he was often deployed in a more offensive role. “At the time, centre-midfield probably was my natural position because I played in midfield a lot more than I did at centre-back," he told MUTV. “I used to get asked repeatedly what my favourite position was and where was I going to end up. I was young, at the time, and said 'my position will find me'. But I loved playing in midfield with Carras (Michael Carrick) - I played with him loads of times and got to grips with the position."
