PDP Mobilises Tambuwal, Obaseki, Saraki To Stop Governor Ayade’s Defection

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mobilised Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the party’s reconciliation committee headed by a former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to persuade the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, to rethink plans to defect from the main opposition party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). THISDAY learnt that the move followed the threat by 18 elected local government chairmen and 196 councillors in the state to defect from the PDP if the party fails to repeat its state congress. Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has condemned the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) lines, describing them as aging and weak. Governor Ayade said, “We had done a trial evacuation in the past and we were confronted with huge technical challenges such as aging and weak lines that lacked the capacity to be able to carry the full voltage that was being generated from the plant.” Speaking shortly after the inspection of the 23 megawatts Calabar power plant in Calabar, Prof Ayade said his government was waiting for Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company’s final nod to hook up to its distribution lines. Cross River state governor, Prof Ben Ayade has presented the 2020 budget estimate of 1.1trillion naira tagged budget of “Olimpotic Meristemasis” to the State House of Assembly. The young girl is simply identified as Vicky, who sells newspapers to pay her fees.
