Empty streets as Owerri residents obey IPOB total lockdown order during President Buhari’s visit to Imo

Residents of Imo state stayed back at their homes today, September 9, even as President Muhammadu Buhari’s arrived the South Eastern state. This comes after the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) directed all residents of the state to sit at home as a form of protest that the Nigerian leader is not ''welcome ''to the state in solidarity with their leader Nnamdi Kanu, who is still under the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). ”No Record of Such Incident”- Police denies Shooting Omoyele Sowore

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has denied claims by publisher and activist, Omoyele Sowore, that he was shot at in Abuja during a protest against insecurity in the country today, May 31. Reacting to his claim, the spokesperson for the command, Mariam Yusuf, in a statement released, said there was no record of any incident such as a shooting during the protest. Zamfara youths block highway to protest against incessant attacks by bandits, destroy vehicles

The Gusau – Kaura Namoda Highway in Zamfara State has been blocked by youths from the state who are reportedly staging a violent protest against the incessant attacks by bandits in their communities.   Channels Television reported that one of the commuters who was trapped along the road on Monday May 31, said the youths blocked the highway along Kurya junction and began to destroy public vehicles travelling along the road.   They reportedly condemned the unending insecurity and attacks carried out by bandits in their communities.   Police operatives have however, dispersed the protesters to ensure the free flow of vehicular movement on the road.

EndSARS: We’re still estimating our losses – Lagos govt

The Lagos State Government has expressed concern that the value of damage to property affecting various parastatals during the EndSARS protest is yet to be determined, several months after. Afolabi Ayantayo, Special Adviser, Parastatals Monitoring Office, disclosed this during the ministerial press briefing on Tuesday to commemorate the second anniversary of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration held in Alausa, Ikeja. According to Ayantayo, 20 parastatals were affected in varying degrees during the EndSARS protest in the State, adding that the government is still assessing and compiling the data.
