Buhari Approves Minimum Wage For Pensioners

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has approved the payment of new minimum wage to pensioners. The Executive Secretary, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, Dr Chioma Ejikeme, disclosed this at a news conference on Friday in Abuja. She said that with the presidential approval, PTAD had been empowered to start the upward adjustment of all pensioners’ benefits according to the approved template. Ejikeme said the adjustment of the new pension payment would start from May 2021 adding that the payment of the arrears would cover the period of the implementation of the minimum wage. “The arrears from April 2019 will be paid along with the pensioners’ monthly benefit starting from May 2021 payroll.” She said that on April 22, a statement was released ...

The Senate and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), have both directed the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to reinstate the five directors of the agency that were sacked last year. Pensioners of the former NITEL/MTEL have commended Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate for taking steps to clear their retirements and pension benefits. Verification: PTAD Targets 2, 596 Pensioners In Niger – Official

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), says it is targeting 2, 596 federal pensioners in the on-going verification exercise in Niger State. The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has apologized to Pensioners in the country over the delay in the payment of their pensions for the month of October 2017 attributing the delay to the changes in government financial management system. A statement from the agency said that the agency received new guidelines from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for them to migrate to a new system when some of its department had started loading payment to Pensioners. PTAD Chief Sharon Ikeazor Calls For Calm Over Delayed October Payment

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Sharon Ikeazor, on Thursday appealed to pensioners for calm over delay in disbursement of their October benefits. Ikeazor said in a statement in Abuja that the delay “is due to new features introduced on the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System, GIFMIS, platform for financial transactions”. The Federal Government has begun the National Pension Verification Exercise for pensioners who retired from the Federal Civil Service in both Old Ondo and Ekiti states. The exercise was being organised for pensioners who thronged the YGL Event’s centre on Housing Road, Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, by the Pension Transitional Administration Agency, (PTAD). The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has kicked against the bill seeking to exclude paramilitary organisations including the police from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
