West Ham close to £25m Vlasic deal

West Ham are close to agreeing a £25m deal to sign Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow. Lingard excelled during a successful loan spell at West Ham under Moyes last term, with the 28-year-old's performances reinstating him into the thoughts of England boss Gareth Southgate. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently said he believes Lingard has a big part to play at Manchester United this season with the player focused on working his way into the first team. EPL: Failing to Qualify for Champions League Won’t Affect Transfers – Klopp

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has insisted that their summer transfer plans will not be affected if they fail to qualify for the Champions League qualification. The Premier League champions are four points off the top four after recent draws against Leeds United and Newcastle United. After the draw against Newcastle last week, Klopp said the team did not deserve Champions League football. But ahead of the trip to Manchester United this Sunday, the German said the club’s transfer strategy will not change if they don’t make the top four. “The Champions League is massive, especially financially for the club. “If we cannot make that, that is not good. Definitely not. “But I don’t think it will change anything. The situation was difficult before and it is diff...

Iheanacho Stunner Keeps Leicester on Track

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a sensational goal and set up another as Leicester came from behind to boost their Champions League qualification hopes with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Wilfried Zaha shocked Leicester when he put Palace ahead inside 12 minutes - his fourth goal in four games at the King Power Stadium. But Iheanacho sparked the Foxes' spirited second-half fightback, setting up Timothy Castagne for the equaliser within five minutes of the restart, before emphatically rifling in his 14th goal in 14 games in all competitions to complete the turnaround 10 minutes from time. Having threatened to leave the door to Champions League qualification ajar for their top-four rivals, the victory sees Leicester consolidate third spot, seven points clear of fifth-placed West Ha...

Arsenal vs Fulham: Arteta warns players not to put ‘eggs in one basket’

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has warned his players that it would be a “big mistake” to focus all their efforts on the Europa League. Ahead of Sunday’s league fixture against Fulham at home, Arteta insists there is a lot to play for in the Premier League. The Gunners are in the semi-final of the Europa League, following their 4-0 win at Slavia Prague on Thursday. The 5-1 aggregate victory over the Czech outfit, sets up a last-four meeting with Villarreal. If they win the competition, Arsenal will qualify for the Champions League, which would be a massive boost after a difficult season. It would be hard for the Gunners to get Champions League qualification through the Premier League, as they are 10 points behind fourth-placed West Ham with seven games to play. But Ar...

Northern Ireland Women Qualify for Euro 2022

Marissa Callaghan and Nadene Caldwell confirmed Northern Ireland's qualification for UEFA Women's Euro 2022 as they beat Ukraine 2-0 in the second leg of their play-off. Skipper Callaghan's 55th-minute strike gave her side the lead at Seaview in Belfast before substitute Caldwell added a second deep into stoppage time to make it 4-1 on aggregate and ensure the nation's first ever participation at a finals tournament. Kenny Shiels' side, who won 2-1 in Kovalivka on Friday, started brightly and threatened from a series of early set-pieces which repeatedly put goalkeeper Kateryna Samson under pressure. However, as Ukraine's wide midfielders Olha Boychenko and Olha Ovdiychuk started to make an impression they were served with a reminder that their job was far from done...

PSG Knock Holders Bayern out on Away Goals

Paris Saint-Germain knocked Bayern Munich out of the Champions League after a 1-0 win for the Bundesliga side was not enough, with the French champions progressing to the semi-finals on away goals. In another elite encounter which followed on from an entertaining first leg which PSG won 3-2 in Germany, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's goal (40), which came against the run of play after Neymar had hit the post and bar, put Bayern just one goal away from qualification. PSG could have crumbled, knowing they have only made one Champions League semi-final since 1995, but Mauricio Pochettino's team were resolute in defence to see out the result. The French side will face either Manchester City or Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.

Fifa Bans Chad from Football Activities for Life

Global football governing body, FIFA has banned Chad from football until further notice. The decision was taken by the Bureau of the Fifa Council on Wednesday and takes effect immediately. Note that in December 2020, Fifa had rejected a request from the country’s ministry of sports to dissolve the Chadian Football Federation. On March 10, the minister for youth and sports released a statement to prevent the Chadian Football Association, FTFA, from performing its obligatory duties due to a dispute between both parties. CAF then disqualified Chad from the Africa Cup of Nations qualification race, just a few days prior to their fixtures against Namibia and Mali, following the sport Minister's actions. FIFA has now waded in, banning the country henceforth. FIFA says t...
