Delta PDP suspends Senator Nwaoboshi for anti-party activities

The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has been suspended by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement released on Wednesday June 23 by the party's spokesperson in Delta State, Ifeanyi Osuoza, the senator was accused of engaging in anti-party activities. Senator Nwaoboshi's suspension is expected to last for a period of one month. According to the party, there’s no doubt that the attacks by Senator Nwaoboshi, a serving Senator and a very recent Chairman of the Party, are potentially inimical to the peace and harmony of the Party and tantamount to causing discord and disaffection among loyal Party members. The statement read; “The State Wor...

Napoli Fine Osimhen As Birthday Video Shows His ‘Recklessness’

Victor Osimhen has been fined half of his monthly salary – about 250,000 Euros – after his birthday video showed he was “reckless” and did not comply with Napoli regulations leading to him contracting Coronavirus. Osimhen celebrated his 22nd birthday in style in Lagos recently without wearing a face mask and not observing social distance. Both the club and coach Genarro Gattuso were furious after they watched the video. Osimhen’s positive Coronavirus result means his comeback from injury has been further delayed. He has been sidelined since November, when he injured his shoulder in action for the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone in Benin City.

It has fixed May 13 for the determination. Oshiomhole is a former two-term governor of Edo State. Army Calls for Closure of Amnesty International Offices in Nigeria

The Nigerian Army has called for the closure of the Amnesty International offices in Nigeria, alleging there is credible evidence the organisation is working hard to destabilise the country. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman said in a statement on Monday that the organisation’s attempt to destabilise the nation was noted through fabrication of fictitious allegations of alleged human rights abuses against the Nigerian security forces. Usman also alleged the AI had engaged in clandestine sponsorship of dissident groups to protest, as well as unfounded allegations against the leadership of the Nigerian military. A coalition of Civil Society Organisations (Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, Enough is Enough, and BudgIT) have recently called for the probe of ...

Why Health Minister, Governing Board are against Me, by Suspended NHIS Boss

The Executive Secretary, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof. Usman Yusuf, who was directed to proceed on administrative leave by President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that  his suspension by the Governing Board was a ploy to cover up high level corruption at the agency. Appearing Friday before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged  fraud at NHIS, Yusuf said his suspension on October 18, 2018 was deliberately planned because he was to present a report on the violation of the public procurement processes and forensic result on the activities of HMOs at the agency to the board same day.  “Why was I suspended on October 18 and not 19? October 18 was the day I was going to present a result of the forensic audit of ...

You Do Not Have The Moral Right To Challenge Buhari To Debate On Good Governance, APC Tells PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the Peoples’ Democratic Party lacks the moral right to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari to a debate on good governance. In a statement issued by the party through it National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, APC described the call for a debate as ridiculous and laughable. Buhari had earlier been challenged to a public debate on good governance by the main opposition PDP ahead of the 2019 general election. The APC said: “A party whose administration placed the economy on life-support through its voodoo economics and fiscal recklessness, the PDP cannot be in a position to debate on good governance. “We view this request by the PDP as another laughable example of its selective amnesia on the 16 years of locust it wr...

BBC Apologizes To Emir Sanusi Over False Publication Of Financial Recklessness

The British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, has apologised to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, over reports it published claiming the Emir was connected with a financial recklessness that took place with the Kano Emirate fund. Recall that on April 24, the corporation had published a report claiming that the Emir was under probe by the Emirate’s anti-graft commission for alleged mismanagement of Kano Emirate fund. The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission had opened an investigation into allegations of ‘questionable expenditures’ running into billions of naira by the council over a short period of time. However, in the apology letter dated April 28, 2017 and sent to Emir Sanusi, Mr. Jamie Angus, editorial director at BBC, said that an April 24 story quoti...
