Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, has asked Nigerian youths longing to relocate to Canada to reconsider their plans and stay back to help make Nigeria a better place. According to him, youths should organize themselves on how to “kick out” the All Progressives Congress (APC) from office in 2023 if they are not satisfied with its governance style. Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has kicked against UEFA’s proposed changes to the Champions League, claiming they do not respect the “sporting merit” of the competition. UEFA’s plans would see a “single table” with 36 teams replace the group stage format, which currently features eight groups of four. Russia has expelled three diplomats from Germany, Sweden and Poland for joining protests in support of opposition activist Alexei Navalny, who was jailed this week after returning from Germany where he was receiving treatment for nerve agent poisoning. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in protests in support of Putin critic, Alexei Navalny across Russia on 23 and 31 January. Thousands were arrested and jailed. The Russian foreign ministry has now said the three diplomats who were expelled took part in "illegal demonstrations" on 23 January. ANGERED by the refusal of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to give Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State a second term, his Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Wale Oluwo, yesterday, resigned. Ambode Oluwo, Vanguard gathered, has also joined the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to ensure the party wins the 2019 governorship election in the state.
